Craig Finn of the Hold Steady listed them as one of his 5 favorite shows ever in P4K's Guest List.

I'm thinking about catching them in Ann Arbor next month. Tix are $25, which I thought was a bit steep for a band of their stature, so I hope it's worth it.

I hate the Hold Steady (and the Decemberists, if anyone cares), but I can say with confidence that Broken Social Scene puts on the best "indie rock" show these days (Tortoise is hot too). They have about a million people up on stage. During a summer show they had J. Mascis come out and he brought the house down, even though BSS members like Spearin, Ohad, and Whiteman rock the guitar pretty good too. But Canning is probably my favorite musician in the group.

If you like their songs, and can handle occasional fluff like "Anthems for a teenage girl" or whatever, you should be wowed by their live show. Otherwise you might not be.

They could do more improv and jams, though, as far as I'm concerned. They aren't up with the best live acts of all time yet.

Fillmore, I know this goes back a ways, but I just found your post. BSS is probably also my favorite current band and I was at the 10-20 Atlanta show as well. I was a little less than blown away. They were pretty good I guess. I don't think they were in the best of moods for this show. The lack of an encore, getting pissed at the guy that kept yelling, and the whole anti-America thing that followed. I've read they're having lots of problems and will probably by breaking up or taking an extended break after the tour.

I didn't actually get that vibe from the show, actually. I could tell he was annoyed with the guy who kept yelling at him when he asked for quiet, and I thought he was just shooting the shit with that "American" remark. I thought it was a fantastic show. To each their own, though.

Aren't there any girls out their who like good music? I need to and want to meet them. My favorite bands are Overkill River, The Nife, Songs:Ohio, and Nuetral Milk Hotel. Please let me know if your into indy music and like to go to show's and drink beer's and makeout.

I'm so jealous of anyone who can describe $US25 as steep for any concert ticket, Australia is a damn expensive country for concert going.
