A homophone is a word that has two meanings such as "Roll" or "Role" they sound they same but have different meanings.

I kind of prefer live versions of things. In my opinion, it is more original than the stuff that is created for albums, in that it has to be perfect, where as on an album there are second chances. I certainly wouldn't pay to watch someone dance around with their album playing in the background. I think that may cause a riot if I payed for the ticket.

I get ya'. I know what a homonym is (where a word has different meanings) but now I know homophone. Believe it or not, I was an English major in college (course they only teach you useless sh*t like Surveys Of Post-Colonial American Liturature there instead of anything anyone could possibly use in normal life). Yeah, I'm just not the kinda guy who uses the phrase "role model" a whole lot. I hate people, kids especially, and they choose the dumbest people to glorify again and again. Why don't kids still listen to Milli Vanilli?

I think the reason that they do this is an attempt towards individuality, by just copying someone else. Really if you think about when you were in high school or even college their were "cliques" where every member of the group looked the same, so they completely lose what they were trying to gain, uniqueness. Or their is always the throwback reason that they actually do idolize these people, comletely ignoring how shallow and narcissistic these people really are.

Most pop singers are just images that some music performer thought would make $$. Sadly these execs know there are millions of little girls out there looking for role models - whether they are spice girls, britney spears or ashlee simpson.

Don't forget about lazy parents looking for the next tv or music "role model" to leave their kids with for a few hours and fulfill their responsibilities for them.

That's why TV is so unbelievably horrible these days. The networks are all performing strictly under the rule that everything on TV has to be for 5 year olds. The sad fact is reality TV is here to stay and that the majority of Americans, who spend half their non-working hours watching TV, know more about the new Survivor than their foreign policy while their children grown up bombarded by so many commercials and commercials posing as reality TV that, much like how mollested children often grow up to mollest children themselves, they much buy into capitalism and never question anything about the lives they lead. Hooray, another generation of loyal soldiers in the capitalist trenches! F*cking consumers...work, breed, buy, and die: that's the entire goal of billions of people. Humans make me sick. We're capable of so much more than this forcing me to believe the most universal human characteristic is not fear, but ignorance. (I should point out that we Canadians are no better but we don't exactly have a military or an opinion on anything so we don't quite matter as much)

Hey Imprezu, go pick up the new Lindsey Lohan album, from what I have heard it is "a pop album but with an edge." Hehe. Had to do it, sorry.

But you are right that actors/musicians never work out. Unless of course, you are Jack Black. I have been dropping his name often recently.

I'm hearing a lot of buzz about the new Lindsey Lohan. Does anyone know how much edge it has? I require an edge of at least 4 quatlooms if I'm going to endorse it.

Aw Mike...how can you say that about such classics as Don Johnson (he's lookin' for a heart-beaat!), Eddie Murphy, and Bruce Willis? Not to mention David Hasselhoff...

There is no way that I am going to create a new thread on this, it is much too embarrassing. But I must say that Lohan's new albums isn't that bad compared to other "Pop Idols" it is kind of edgy. I heard it on one of Realplayer's "Free Listening Parties" that has the full album to listen to at no charge.

I think it's pretty well known that if you can describe something as edgy, it isn't. The same as if you can call something a tour de force, that means its pretentious wank.

It is edgy in the sense that it isn't similar to Britney, Ashlee, Jessica, or Christina. She is more like a tame Avril.

Avril is faaaaaaaaaaar from edgy. The closest thing she came to edgy was when she ordered Pizza Hut. To be "edgy," you have to bluntly say things that piss people off, say things that will guarantee you won't be widely accepted by the mainstream, create art that makes people upset. What they pass off as edgy is a girl who wants to go to a party or has a lesbian lover (TATU). For Avril, it's wearing a dog collar even though she has never heard of the Sex Pistols and introduced David Bowie as David Bow-ie (not bo-ie but bow...ie as she hadn't heard of him either). For Christine, it's showing a little bum in a video while faking matrubation. Edgy is supposed to make you on edge and, while the sheltered suburban white girl's mom might be disturbed by graffic sexuality, she should be more distrubed by the fact that all the edgy she is being exposed to is a carefully marketted and tested pop formula designed to create the maximum amount of hype and cash, bollocks to actual creative people and culture. Real edgy doesn't sell well...like the Velvet Underground.

Look man, what do you want me to say? I completely agree with what you are saying, but it was still alright. You can twist my words around (or literally, I'm not very good at expressing myself clearly) but there is no point, as I agree with you. I generally keep myself as far away from pop as possible, no radio, no music television, BET, Fuse, etc., etc. But that doesn't take away from the the fact that Lohan isn't that bad. Maybe because, she hasn't actually done any of those dumb publicity stunts to attract buyers, yet. I have nothing more to say about it.

By the way, I think you may have broken my record for most posts in the shortest amount of time. Welcome.

Posting is fun. Lohan was just busted lip-synching the same as Ashlee. I know it doen't really count as a publicity stunt but it does speak to her role in life. I just have no respect whatsoever for manufactured music.

i wish i could find this incident online and see for myself
if it was real lip synching or just using a backing track to enhance her voice
im sort of confused on the whole ordeal and i realy liked ashlee simpson and i still do but i wont pretend shes a great singer by any means

but i still prefer it to the robo whitney - celine -isms \that her sister tries to project on the public
i dont have much faith in the mass media knowing the difference between lip synching and using a backing track
but you people are a lot smarter than that so maybe she was lip synching either way shes never claimed to be a great singer
on the first episode of her mtv show they showed her struggeling just to stay on key throughout the whole time
so this whole ordeal doesnt shock me, but what i dont understand is, britney lip synchs all the friggen time and shes not even good at it yet noone in the mass media mentions it like its some kind of hidden dirty secret its almost like a conspiracy or something Confused
