Just heard confirmation that The King Of Pop Michael Jackson is dead.
It's a sad day indeed if you ask me, absolute legend throughout his whole career. I'll be breaking out his back catalogue tonight.

He deserves to be remembered for his music and not his controversies. I will miss him.

Molesting children is not a controversy, its fucking disgusting and that above all else is what he should be remembered for. Its his own damn fault that's his legacy.

I was never a big fan, but watching this clip tonight took me back to my childhood:

Billy Jean Live at Motown

For some reason, watching this made me very sad. What a tragedy - not just his death, but what he became.

Hey dumbass, he was acquitted of any wrong doing.

To state the bloody obvious, he was a terrific singer and a singular dancer, and for Off the Wall and Thriller and all those stunning J5 songs, he deserves to be kept in the pantheon.

Sadly, I'd been waiting a while for an early death. He was so fragile, so weak in recent years.

Thanks for the music Mickey J. Smiler

On one lawsuit. He settled another for $22MM. Sorry, but paying out a $22MM settlement doesn't exactly scream, "I'm innocent." I know I wouldn't have left kids alone with the guy.

I wouldn't have left my dog alone with the guy, but the point is, he was never found guilty of anything. I think he settled the case because it was wearing him out and he was ready to move on with his life. Either way, the guy was the best entertainer of all time, period. He revolutionized pop music and his influence reaches into nearly every genre.

You're right. Compared to Michael Jackson, Elvis looks like a second-rate clown. Jackson's voice was better, his artistic vision greater and his dance moves were revolutionary, not to mention the energy that he brought to stage was enough to knock you over. Elvis was a one trick pony who knew how to shake his hips and wear flashy garments. Michael was a whirlwind of talent and ideas that kept progressing throughout his career.

I'm behind chaos 100% on this one. Jackson's death was a tragedy, and what happened to his life was a tragedy as well. He's one of the most controversial and well-known popular culture icons of all time.

RIP Micheal.

Chaos, I very rarely agree with you, I feel like you're spot on this time.

Michael Jackson deserves to be missed, not mocked. He was a victim who was taken advantage of for his entire life. It so skewed his psyche that he never grew up.

He was never convicted of anything, and for good reason: the man was not a sexual being, he was a big kid trying as an adult to live a childhood he was deprived of. The crotch-grabbing King Of Pop we saw onstage was simply a persona created by Jackson's handlers - one that he obviously struggled to separate from real life Michael, leading to the excess that was the Neverland Ranch, the plastic surgery, etc. Instead of getting this man the help he needed, though, the people surrounding him took the money and ran, even stabbing him in the back with finger-pointing pseudo-documentaries.

I don't believe Michael Jackson ever did anything he was accused of and I feel supremely sorry for him that he lived such a miserable life. He didn't just suffer for his art, he suffered because of his art. As a man who lived his life based around the art he contributed to society, Michael Jackson deserves to be remembered for just that: his life's work.

RIP Micheal.

I agree with this post word for word. Couldn't have said it better myself.

So was OJ. And if you would let your kids spend the night with him, you would be just as pathetic and sad as the other starstruck poor people who he bought off. Giving children wine and sleeping in the same bed with them isn't something non-sexual people do. Its a sick world out there and MJ was fucked up. Maybe he wasn't having intercourse with the kids he had over, but he was up to no good there's no denying it.

I've been enjoying hearing his old hits on the radio as well the past few days, and I agree with you he was a great performer. Just don't tell me that his music is all he should be remembered for. Again with OJ, you can't tell me we should only remember him for being a great running back.

And for a guy that stole most of his act from James Brown, calling him the greatest entertainer of all time is a reach.

Wrong bucko, check your facts. OJ was found guilty for the deaths of Ron Goldman and Nicole Simpson in a court of law.

Michael paid that kid's mom off to get her out of his hair and to move on with his life. Fact is, he was inappropriate with children, we all know that because he admitted it on camera. He admitted to letting children sleep in his bed. But remember, Michael saw absolutely nothing wrong with it. Why do you think that is? Because in his mind, he was just a child sleeping in a bed with another child. A sleepover. Like public access said, I don't think he as a sexual being, he was just a kid wanting to spend time with other kids. A sad, messed up situation, but not pedophilia.

Lay off the crack dude. You obviously have no grasp on who Michael Jackson was and what he accomplished in music. Just because Michael had soul doesn't mean he copied JB.

Jeez chaos, you really shouldn't enter debates of which you know nothing.

Michael Jackson was a huge fan of James Brown, and copied him tirelessly,(Jackson said so himself) which is not to say that Mickey didn't develop his own ideas, but it's denying reality to say he didn't copy JB.
