I don't know about the rest of her solo album, but that song "big girls don't cry" is the catchiest damn thing i've heard in awhile.

If you haven't finished your masters thesis on the beatles discography and you're listening to this, I might just murk your ass.

I finished my thesis on the Beatles. I've decided not to post it though. It's more or less a regurgitation of my comments in the "is every one here young" thread. So I figured what's the point of spamming the forum with my opinion of the Beatles.

And really, Fergie is the result of the evolution of music since the Beatles. I think she lists the Beatles as one of her primary influences actually. Smiler

Yes, you can almost hear echoes of "Happiness is a Warm Gun" in "Fergilicious".

Seriously though, "big girls don't cry" is some catchy stuff. I wish you'd listen to it. I guarantee you'll have that song on repeat for days.

See, you know what i'm talkin' about. I hear that her lyrics for that song were inspired by Bob Dylan.

I think it's a decent song with kind of weak lyrics that she destroys with her beastly oversinging.

I vote "Fergie" as music most likely to turn me into a serial killer, or at least kill the asshole damaging my brain with this crap.

Wink

Seriously, though, Fergie is nowhere near on the same level as a sixties supergroup that I will protect from being mentioned in the same sentence with her.

There are lots of even catchier tunes with actual substance that you could be listening to.

I'm all ears mike. I love truly catchy pop that's not too terribly shallow.

I would quantify numerous Wilco songs as 'catchier' than this Fergie stuff...More mainstreamly, Alicia Keys owns Fergie.

I've got Wilco's entire discography. What I need is shameless pop more in the vein of Chritina, Britney, Fergie, etc. You know what i'm talking about. That music that you don't want any of your friends to know you listen to.

Alicia Keys has released some great shameless, catchy pop songs, but not in awhile. She's trying to be too credible these days.

And this is the same dude that broke up with his girlfriend because she liked country music, yet he isn’t ashamed to like “Chritina, Britney, Fergie, etc…That music that you don't want any of your friends to know you listen to.”

well, i guess everybody has their guilty pleasure, but fergie? i haven't heard a song by her that i didn't flat out hate. i like britney's new single and christina's last album wasn't bad. 'the sweet escape' is thoroughly enjoyable and rihanna has put out some decent stuff (although 'shut up and drive' is a contender for worst single of the year). 'big girls don't cry' makes me cringe like i've just taken a shot of jack, only i'm not feeling any drunker. it's not even remotely dancable!

Hey, there's absolutely no excuse for country, none. Shameless pop, on the other hand, has nothing other than shallow ambitions and therefore can be fun.
