So, I downloaded this "blackout" album today for my new girlfriend. My old girlfriend I broke up with because she started listening to country music. Anyways. I thought I would give my impressions.

There's really no words to describe how unbearable this album is. This is the biggest pile of rubbish I've ever heard. We all know Britney is a no-talent ho, but even for her this is atrocious.

Even the rappers she paid to guest star on the album couldn't bring it above the pile of maggot sh!t that is this album.

God help anyone who listens to this album, God help them. God help me. Someone get me an ice pick so I can stab out the part of my brain that remembers hearing this album.

And that's my review. Thank you.

Is this a conversation, or a public service announcement?

Britney Spears should start releasing her albums as electronic "pay what you want" digital albums.

It was a review/public service announcement. People need to know how dangerous this record is.

I like "Toxic."

Seriously.

Like, no, I'm not fucking with you.

No, I'm not saying it for the "indie kid irony."

I think the song is catchy. And fun. And the music video doesn't hurt either.

Yes, I know it took no talent on her part, but..

Uhh..

Uhhh....

.....

Actually, the opener on "blackout" called "gimme more" is the only half way decent track on the album. It's the shameless, mindless pop that people love her for.

Did anyone see the album cover art? It's up at Rolling Stone, and it's really atrocious. It looks like an amateur Photoshop job.

I think it just might be an amateur photoshop job.. I wonder how much money was thrown down on that "artwork" (and the album itself!).

They should do Fan Cover Art contests, rather than Fan Video contests. there would be a lot more entries, but they would be pretty high quality.

And they could avoid things like this Britney Spears cover.

That girl is so lacking in anything that even resembles talent, it's not even funny. Somebody needs to smack some sense into her.

Lmao. Is there anybody on this earth that hasn't seen that ridiculous video. Just knowing that there are people like Chris Crocker out there fighting for the honor of Britney Spears gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling.

this album really isn't that bad.
I reviewed it on my blog...
http://jesuswasabaritone.blogspot.com/

Soooo the other day on a whim i decided to download (illegally that is) , gulp, the new Britney Spears album. The reason for the download was 1) something to laugh at. 2.) overall curiosity if it actually would be any good.

After one time or so through the album, unfortunately i have to say, its not a bad album. In fact for a pop record its pretty solid ( not that i have a lot of top 40 albums or anything) but I must say recently I've grown quite enamored with club music and this album has quite a few club bangers. This obviously is probably more indicative of the producers Britney chose to work with ( Heaven on Earth in particular has an amazing music backing, its very much closer to the New Order/LCD Soundsystem side of dance music as opposed to what you would normally hear on the radio, while "Piece of Me" is vaguely reminiscent of Electro-house giants Justice or even electro dance-rock outfits like Goose and the Presets ). That said she really doesn't hurt the music either. The sexy style of her singing is a good compliment to the music. She knows her limits (sharing the same octave range with a Tickle-Me-Elmo doll being one of these ), and her strengths (sexy sultry cooing) as a singer and as a result doesn't try to do to much.
Lyrically it isn't really much to write home about, although its not atrocious by any sort of the imagination. But not much club based music (beyond M.I.A or James Murphy related projects) have much depth anyway.

Overall i must say I'm shockingly impressed. Its not going to win album of the year by any means, (Best Dance Grammy isn't out of the question though) but considering the train wreck she's been the past couple of years, this is definitely a pleasant surprise. And finally she's made a record that can stand up to the surprisingly solid pop maker/ ex-beau Justin Timberlake.

In the end will this album be universally praised, like for example the latest Radiohead LP? Hell no. Will it find a following even among the snobbish indie kids? If they like to dance, then I say yes.
