I was so looking forward to the new "Stepford Wives." (Yes, I was one of the only people who had not heard of the pre-release chaos going on behind the scenes of this stinker.) It was SO AWFUL! The only revision that kind of worked was the gay couple. Very funny. But NOTHING else worked! How unfortunate.
This is making me very nervous about the new "Manchurian Candidate." We'll see!

I actually sort of liked it. I didnt think it was very funny---only Bette Midler made me laugh. But, for the time, it was light silly fare, so Ididnt go in with expectations. Though, I do think the ending would have improved if they had used their original idea which was for Nicole Kidman, Roger Bart, and Bette Midler to obviously show that they are still robots on the Larry King show..

I haven't seen it but a friend of mone saw it last night and said it was really funny. I still don't think I understand the whole idea behind it. I'll wait until I hear more peoples opinion.
stepford wives would fall under the category of trying too hard. there was nothing really wrong with the movie but it just left a sour taste in my mouth. it wasn't satisfying. a lot of things didn't make sense like just how did the wives become perfect. it left me confused more than anything else.
I think the Stepford Wives movie is great you just need to pay attention a little more to understand it, in the NEW version (2004) they tern perfect by getting basically a body suit wrapped around there body witch is the manican laying on the table and attaches microchips to your mind committing mind control but to perfect it to look pretty is by that table around the end of the movie that looks like a dentist chair but is a computerized machine that does the perfection

I enjoyed your explanation of the details of the women's transformation, even though personally my need for an explanation wasn't necessary for me to enjoy the movie. I'm glad you did and also for supplying an feasible explanation for others who need one. One of the supposed problems with this re-make is that it really isn't so much of a horror thriller than an entertaining, light, science fiction tale. Taken in this context the movie really captures the basic themes of fun entertainment, not the worst of any year really.
