There is no doubt that this game will sell a ton. It is the second most anticipated game next to Halo 3 on any console. The thing that matters though is will it be any good, and will it just be another FPS alien shoot'em up game? We'll find out out November 7th, when it releases for the Xbox 360.

My question to you is what do you think about the game so far, and do you think it will have as big of an impact on the 360, that Halo had on the original Xbox?

It definitely won't be as big as Halo....that's for sure. Halo was one of the biggest games for any console ever at the height of its popularity....I don't see it matching that for the simple fact that it's a 3rd person action shooter, and those tend to be a little less publicized/noticed than FPS's.

Will it be just as good though? Probably. From what I've seen, the visuals/gameplay are top notch....and if the multiplayer is as addicting as Halo 1/2, then the game will be a definite hit. I have a feeling I will be playing it for a long time.

Halo 3 will most likely surpass both Halos and Gears Of War though.

It certainly looks better than all the other F.P.S games released for the 360. From what I've seen it'll put Pray and Call of Duty 2 to shame. But it'll probably always be in Halo's shadow.

I'm usually not a fan of team-based shooters but I'll have to admit that Gears Of War looks absolutely awesome!
It won't have the effect halo had though. Master Chief is like an X-box mascot and Halo was the main reason why the original x-box were succesfull in the first place. Every gamer know about Halo and know what to expect. Gears of war will have to prove itself first by living up to the hype.

Well it seems that if you Pre-order Gears of War for the 360, you can snag your title on November the 7th, 4 days before it ships to the public (November 11th)! Ya no joke, pretty sweet!

Gears of War will be a big game for sure. It will however, be hard to compare to Halo because of the large differences in gameplay.

Halo is more of run and gun. I love it. You can take hundreds of bullets and if you take cover you can get right back into it.

Gears of War looks like it will be a more tactical game, with the ability to take only a small amount of damage before being killed. It will be all about the cover and I think that will make it a very "White kunckle" game. The videos I've seen look pretty intense. Oh yeah and it's third person.

Hopefully Gears of War turns out half as good as it's hype is making it out to be? Will it ever be as big as Halo? Probably not, but that's only because Halo is THE x box game. When you think X box, you immidiately think of Halo and no other games. Gears of War could end up being a "better" game, but it will still never surpass halo as the mascot of the X box

Well it is November 7th, and the game has shipped to anyone who has preordered the game for the 360. I was wondering if anyone has played it, and how is the massive game? So far, it is getting great reviews.

Well, I picked up my pre-order on the 7th from Eb Games....the manager went all the way to L.A. to pick up some copies, which weren't gonna arrive until the next day otherwise, so that was cool. Got it at about 8:30 PM, and took the day off yesterday, so I've played quite a bit....and I gotta say....

This is easily the best game of the year so far, if not, one of the best games I've ever played. It's more than just graphics that make this game....even though the graphics are the best I've ever seen....it's the experience as a whole. If someone were to play this game without ever hearing a word about it before hand, I guarantee that they would walk away amazed. So many got sucked in by the massive hype that they came away disappointed that the game didn't make toast and clean their underwear for them too. This game isn't about reinventing video games or being the "be all end all" of action games. This game is about providing a great gaming experience you won't be anywhere else. And it accomplishes that easily.

The campaign is amazing....and even better when you play it with a friend in co-op over Live. It's not really a great story, but the gameplay is what you will be concentrating on the most, and that delivers very nicely. The cover mechanics work very well....and the action is methodical, but with a fast pace to it.

The multiplayer is where I had the most fun playing yesterday though....4 vs. 4 tactical battles in this game (with no respawns) are very tense and nerve racking. I couldn't get enough of the multiplayer. It has just the right mix of action with exactly the right size levels....everything is just quality.

All in all, I'm really enjoying this game, and didn't get sucked in by the hype only to be let down, which many people did (at least on message boards)....if you don't look at it as the greatest thing since sliced bread, and instead look at it as one of the best action games on this generation, then you might come away surprised. To me, this should do for action games now what Contra did way back in day. In fact, this game kinda reminds me of a "new-age" Contra so to speak....but we'll see if it has that same impact.

I've had Gears of War for a few weeks now, and I still run down to my basement to play multiplayer whenever I get the chance, it hasn't lost its excitement at all.

It is a very good game. However the story mode is far too short. The graphics are awesome and the game play is incredible but i can't help but feel a little let down by the length of the game. Halo was the same and although multiplayer does help, it can't completely make up this.

I thought Gears of War was a great game but I agree with Harry it has a very short story which I would play again because it was still fantastic. I haven't played online yet considering that I don't have live but am hoping to get it soon (I used to Live for the regular XBOX and miss it very much). But overall it's a great game that has many redeeming qualities and a high replay value!

Fast, frantic, and beautiful game on the 360, which is tons of fun. The only thing I didnt like about the game was it was way to short! I beat in probably 6-8 hrs. on casual, but I will surely go back and play on the great co-op. Xbox live multiplayer is tons of fun, but be warned: Get good at the game before you just jump online because believe me, you'll get your ass handed to you by the sniper or the rocket bow. Fun nonetheless...
