Absolutely. Well deserved too. Everyone knows that we are America's disabled little brother. U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A! No use in getting offended by someone who's aim is to do just so.

I'm a little late on the big bunfight over the Creed, but I would still like to put in my 2 yuan. This is the only game I have finished all year save Twilight Princess. Everything else, I have abandoned close to the end, or play fitfully, or am still in the process of wanting to complete (Bioshock, Crackdown, Mass Effect) It has its flaws; it plays like a Ramones song stretched to rock opera limits, and could certainly have incorporated nocturnal missions, the ability for Altair to swim, more interior exploration, and a.i. variety.....however, I was completely and utterly addicted to this game every single second, ( I put aside all other current gaming duties for a week) and am even now, having solved it all, still wandering amongst the spires, climbing, running, shambling along on my horse, and thrilling to the kill when a bloody Templar comes along. Yes, it has its limits, but by god, its my favourite game of the year....and night after night of 3am sleeps attest to my now gnawing hunger for a sequel.

I dont know why anyone would be surprised with the reviews for this game. They reflect that this could have been game of the year and wasn't quite up to the task. Hopefully Ubisoft will learn what went right and what went wrong for AC2. The game had 3 great positives that made it so enjoyable Storyline - I'm a sucker for the Da vinci code, Holy Blood Holy Grail etc.. theories so long as they are done well and this one was very well thought up. Characters who should be dynamic were dynamac and you really got the feel for who Altair was as you played through him. The HP bar in theory fit in perfectly reflecting that as an assassin your ancestor was never hit nor killed civilians during these missions. The game managed to tie itself together in the end despite leaving rom for a sequal. Graphics - Stunning, I hate to beat a dead horse and compare it to Obliviom, but the first times I saw both games I was reassured of my purchase. Your character reacts to his environment exactly the way he should and as the developers intended with very few glitches (though I did manage to stick my arm through my chest turning a corner while climbing). though the one part that constantly reminds me that no game is perfect is watching my cloak drape through the wooden lookout plank every single time I syncronized. Controls - Fluid enough that you could pick-up your controller and immediatly attempt to scale buildings, fight off enemies, and walk through crowds undetected. But they left enough that you could work-on such as timing attacks, counters and leaping from obsticle to obsticle that you could play for hours and not be bored. However they did not make great use of this environment as the story's quest's and sub-quest's were all very linear (I would even include collecting flags and killing templars as doing these things freeform wasn't any different). The Quest's were not as imaginative as they could have been (I'm alright with sitting on a bench for a cut-scene quest every once in a while but by the 3rd time you did this...). Some assassinations were made a little to convenient by scholars (ie. the executioner one? how does he not noticed a random group of scholars emerge from the crowd and wander right behind him?). And in an assassination themed game shouldn't the final boss be a very difficult "assassination only" task instead of almost random tacked-together fights. Had Ubisoft of addressed these problems by making more imaginative sub-missions as well as freeform activities that wern't simply "save citizen" 90 times; to use their beautifully crafted environment. Then this would have been a Game-Of-The-Year title; but they didn't instead it's just another solid game for 360. Worth the purchase, but not the hype. quote: Originally posted by MarkT: Here is what this game could have done better IMO -
a) Swimming would have been nice. I can live without it though. I enjoyed throwing people in the drink.
b) The powers you gained could have been more meaningful... you basically had what you needed after about three assassinations. I did like the combat, all said and done.
c) Nighttime would have been nice. I like daytime settings more in general, but a few night missions would have mixed it up a bit.
d) More could have been done with the Kingdom... I would have liked more interaction with armies preparing for war.
e) The flags felt undeveloped... although they probably took a leaf out of Crackdown's orbs for that.
f)Competing with other assassin's might have been fun. And more of a sense of plot-related reward for completing certain informant tasks.
g) More pickpocketing options could have been interesting...
Same thing me and some buddies were arguing about I'm gonna post what we think the answers are a) Why can't the master of acrobatics swim? Because it would have taken away from the small amounts of PoP problemsolving implemented in the game (why wasn't there more of that?) It's stupid but it works. b) Why is everything aquired after counter-kill basically meaningless? Lack of PoP-style puzzles meant you didn't need additional skills to reach checkpoints (again why wasn't there more of that?). c) Developers were lazy and didn't integrate an AI schedual like Oblivion has nor Oblivion's light falling on main character so night/day would have been useless from a gameplay perspective (hopefully Ubisoft figures this out for AC2). d) Not Enough to do? that nearly sums up all of AC's issues yeah they really could have been alot more innovative with sub-quest/side-quest because both the environment and storyline opened that up for them. f) Integrating multi-player into a single player game takes far more time than it is worth; though depending on how you do it. A simple mini-game online that could be a fun fast-paced way of adding life to this game, integrating it into the story could have turned this into Two Worlds *shudder* g) Altair is an assassin and not a theif so I actually liked this being toned-down, though most of the other people I've talked to felt this was missing from the game.

The game really was breathtaking I must admit. I enjoy playing it alot and knocking off achievements on live. One thing I enjoyed was the fact of jumping off high structures into trailers of hay. It really helped with the post-assassination chases when they got higher and higher off the ground. I give it at most a 9.5 cause you're right that the dialogue does have a repetitive streak and it can get a little annoying after awhile. But for the most part, being 17 and not having the patience for a lot, I have A LOT of patience for this game.

Well, quite the little war of words going on here. You've convinced me to go and rent AC though, MarkT. Oh this game has a strong 'just one more thing before going to bed' element? Uhm..well, I can sleep after I save the Holy Land!

The games so awesome graphics wise & control wise that I get frustrated they didn't do 'more' with the game, they could have made it far more less repetitive & introduced so much more to the world they created!! It saddens me that the developers got lazy. Imagine it online, with your targets & a group of Assassins being controlled by Live players.....

Hiya folks, I'm new to this forum and its been something like a year since I was a forum regular anywhere, so please, be gentle with the newbie . Anywho, onto the subject in hand - Assassins Creed. Now, I've heard there was alot of hyper around this game, but personally I heard none of it. And if I did, I would have tried to ignore it (not saying it would have worked, but nevermind). However, hyperless me saw a review on Zero Punctuation that convinced me it was worth a try, and so I did. Nice game, very much like Crackdown as has already been said here, and has the same feeling to it - you feel the urge to complete it, to reveal the storyline, and so forth, and after that the replay value it low. Good graphics, nice freeform travel like Crackdown, alittle light in content (although not as light as Crackdown). Overall, I'd rate it somewhere between 7 and 8. Good, enjoyable, but not a great. Oh, and I heard talk of Halo over-rating. Personally, I don't have XBox Live, partly cus of the expensive wireless adapter I'd need, partly cus I avoid paying subscriptions, being a cheap, souless husk of a human that I am. Hence, I only played the single player... only half way through, not planning to finish. 5-6, really.

Ok, I don't really talk like that, but I had you going, no?
