How is this game? I'm nervous about buying it because they have not released a demo of it to the reviewers or public in general. Usually when this happens it means the game is not good and the game makers know it. Roll Eyes

I hear ya. Someone out there must have played it. Please let me know. I'm on the brink of making an impulse purchase at the store across from where I work. It's been too long since the last stealth game and I'm just bored with most of the FPS out now.

I remember buying Alone In the Dark on a impulse buy, it was a complete train wreck of a game. I've always been the type to buy a game as soon as it comes out, now I'm trying to resist that impulse and wait to hear the reviews.

Ha! I was soooo close to buying Alone in the Dark but held off just long enough to discover it was an absolute train wreck. But still, happens from time to time... just bought Godfather II, and it ok but shoulda rented. C'est la vie!

worth a go if stealth games are your thing. If you can't wait for the next dose of hitman or splinter cell you will enjoy this game. The developers had a pretty tight budget on this one and they have done a fairly good job, yeh there is the odd glitch, I hid in a corner by a stack of barrels then turned around only to find myself on top of the barrels near the roof looking down on the enemies patterns of movement, it actually helped me out so I used it again.
I forgive these smallfaults becuase I found the core gameplay rewarding if carried out spot on, the game can be unforgiving which I liked, the levels are fairly small so a wrong move only means you repeating a section that won't take too long. You end up perfecting the take downs and thats quite nice. It encourages carful use of bullets, and a neat get out of jail free system. when a stealth kill is messed up, you dose yourself with a shot of morphine which lets you attack with invincability for a few seconds on only one baddie.
The story isn't really anything to write home about, I did laugh however when during a pre mission briefing the main charecter tells you what to do and the voice actor pronounces the word quay as in, (in a harbour or docks) KWAY. How this slipped past the proof readers I will never know and the voice actor who surley must be well educated got this wrong is beyond me. But This isn't some hollywood epic its a video game after all so who cares what the story is all about.
It fills the usual summer shortage of decent games quite well in my opinion.
