do u know if it is just a port from ps2 and anything new about the game?
Oh, GOD IT FEELS GOOD TO OWN AN XBOX! Well I've waited so long for this game and, it saddens me that there’s still TWO FULL FREAKN weeks till it comes out. In the mean time I've been reading up on it like crazy. Here's my back story
My friend who has the game on the PS2 (the same guy who I borrowed the PS2 from) bought it a few days after it came out. He kept telling me to 'come over and check it out.' It was so tempting, I just wanted a peek, I read the ps2 review and grabbed quotes like, "arguably the best PS2 game ever..." I nearly saturated my pants reading all the new things you could do. I wanted to watch and see how it plays, but I didn’t. I remained true to my trusted beloved console. I held off and savored my San Andreas virginity.
And to the question:
Thank god Rockstar North is a kick ass company willing to put the time and effort into chopping the game for PS2, and re-working it back for the Xbox. Unlike most games, and most companies (EA) they actually take advantage of what Xbox has to offer. TY Rockstar. This is not an exact port!
OXM says that there are about 40-50% more polygons compared to the PS2
They also added “real-time shadows on the ground that follow the arc of the sun”.
And like in Vice City and Liberty City they’re going to add the custom soundtracks. Good idea, considering I have like 2or3 hours of music on my hard drive. They also went as far as to tying them into the radio DJ’s skits and stuff like that, so you can have commercial breaks in between the songs. Genius.
They also increased the draw distances so you can see about three to five times farther.
Last but not least they said that the Xbox will have very short load times, unlike the PS2, (even though those load times were short), these will be faster.
I was reading the EGM article and I read one thing that they didn’t mention in the OXM article. Get ready for this one……It’s a BIG ONE…..something that should always be in video games….something that’s perfect for a game like GTA……..savable replays. ::Angel Music cues, and tears roll down my eyes:: 30 second replays, while it may not seem like a lot of time, a lot can go down in 30 seconds in the world of GTA.
All in all I’m glad San Andreas will come to the Xbox, so I’ve created a short skit about the Xbox and PS2 talking about SA.
Xbox: Hey I’m getting a new game!
PS2: Really which one?
Xbox: GTA:San Andreas!
PS2: That’s old. I already beat that game.
Xbox: Yeah, butt mines better, see ::shows PS2 SA::
PS2: What’s that in the distance?
Xbox: Oh, the
Camel's Toe hotel...Oh, yeah I forgot you can’t see that far, since your draw distances are so short...::On the way to the hotel, PS2 hears the radio it’s Demon Days by Gorillaz::
PS2: What’s that noise? I’ve never heard that song on my version.
Xbox: HAHAH, man you gotta catch up with the times, I ripped this version from my own CD. OHHHHH DUDE! YOU SEE THAT!?
PS2: See what I missed it.
Xbox: O man, I totally forgot, check this out, my versions’ got a 30 second replay feature.
PS2: re-play-feet-jure?
Xbox: Don’t hurt yourself there, just boot your version up and lets play together? You okay little bro? You look a little hot?
PS2:....
Xbox: O I’ll wait, for your game to load up...Damn homie, you better leave that load time near the load tray before you play with me.
PS2: :: Disk Read Error pops up and PS2 overheats and is engulfed in flames::
Xbox: O crap Dude!….::stares at the blazing fire on PS2...and continues to play GTA::
THE END
p.s.-"Good things come to thoes who are patient"
pps.-That story was a space taker, and a little biased. Actually it's the Xbox whos' powercord had a problem catching on fire. (like a 1 in 10,000 or something)
