Why do so many nfl 2k5 players still cheat online - specifically with the timer countdown and disconnect. Then they claim to have undefeated records, and gloat when they beat you. I don't understand. Please stop. My record is 49 - 32, but it's real. We all know how to cheat. What are some other ways that people cheat?
There are two different types of "Cheating" in video games, one method can be very entertaining and the other is about as low as you can get in the gaming world. The first cheating, is the implementation of "cheats" such as the ones that are very popular in the Grand Theft Auto series. I love these cheats because if you are not in the mood to play through the game and you want to have a little fun, you can just spawn weapons and vehicles to help you. The second cheating, is cheating to beat your opponent. There is really nothing that is good about it, and as MGE said "If you cheat in video games, that's a sad statement about your life."

Cheating is pathetic and makes a person seem worthless, I play counterstrike and I hate when people use cheats like seeing through walls or auto-aim headshots. But also, some people need to know what a cheat is sometimes cause I have been accused of cheating just because I am better than someone else, and I have not cheated.

Cheating in online games is largely due to a bubble of protection… virtual anonymity. Almost all of these people would not cheat when playing a game face-to-face with a stranger, but they have no qualm with ruining someone else’s fun from the comfort of their own living rooms… thousands of miles away.
Actions have consequences, but not in a digital playground. You can burn, rape, and pillage other people virtually with practically no punishment whatsoever.
Perhaps if someone could provide an interesting link to an article on the negative effects of virtual anonymity with respect to online gaming, I'd like to read and discuss that further.
Food for thought.

Yeah, it's pretty much about no consequences. You can cheat like crazy and you may be booted by punkbuster or soemthing, but you won't have any real consequences. What would happen if you were playing air hockey (or any face to face game) with someone you didn't know at all and you randomly started cheating? THey'd be pretty pissed off I bet.

I cheat when I am bored and playing alone. I don't cheat when I play online with other people unless I join like a cheat server, then I just use class cheats to get hte weapons I want.
