Problem is, what you believe is wrong. I can believe that I am the most knowledgable man on Earth---but Im not---and...neither are you.

Xbox games don't need patches?
Unreal Championship got one.
So did Capcom VS SNK2
Thief 3 has a horrible single player bug that resets the AI when you load on a hard game

Xbox owners had to wait a long while before they got the extra planet that the PC version of KoToR had.

Plus you pay for extra conent, stuff that pc people can get for free.
But I suppose $5 for two Splinter Cell levels sounds good, not!

The thing about patching is that PC games generally need patches because of the diversity of computers that they are expected to run on. There are more potential problems with running PC games than developers can ever anticipate, but with console games, its easier to test because they are all running off uniform hardware.

Let's keep this coversation civil, my friends. Granted, a topic entitled "Justify its Existence" is going to ruffle some feathers, but let's try to stay objective.

Ah, yes I apologize. I just become annoyed easily when people state supposed "facts" that are not true. I have nothing against PS2. I just dont like people who---excuse the term---"hate" on other systems, because they share a portion of the popularity that the Playstation got.

Graphics aren't better than PS2??????

Mondialo2k> PL2's graphics are pretty bad compared Xbox!!

Why do you think that some exclusive games to the Xbox had some of the best Graphics??
(Halo, Kotor, Riddick)

PS2 cant handle the graphics and memory!!
And Rockstar updated GTA 3 with better graphics and quicker loading times!

Xbox is 10 times better in Technology than Gamecube and PS2!!!

Last Movie Seen: There Will Be Blood 9/10
Now Playing: COD4

As much as I would like to get into this fanboy talk. I'll just state my simple opinion:

I own all three consoles, because let's face it, there are games on the ps2 (GTA, FF, Tekken, etc...) that you can't get on Xbox. There are some for the gamecube too (Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Resident Evil, etc...). But when looking across the platforms you can truly tell that the Xbox has superior graphics, but graphics only don't make a good game.

I personally like the xbox over the rest because of the Hard drive, the console-specific games (Halo, KotoR, Rallisport, etc..), Xbox Live, graphics, and the more adult-oriented themed games. It seems the xbox is making the push more towards marketing to young adults than to little kids (nintendo).

Of course, I'm a HUGE sports fan (go angels!) and play sports games year-round. When checking reviews on ign, they compare all 3 consoles games against each other, I'd say I've never seen an instance where the xbox WASN'T deemed the best version of the game (Madden, ESPN Hockey, NCAA Football, Live, MVP Baseball, etc...)

So, I love my Xbox, and only play a game on the other systems that I can't get on my xbox.

I truely can't understand fanboys who have to hate on a console to make themselves feel important or just because they can't have afford to have it. Justify the Xbox's existence? To play games.

Just let all the fanboy shit die. Seriously, the best thing about these forums is they arent populated by idiot kids who will throw tantrums about their favourite consoles.

Fanboys are the reason I don't go to Gamespot's forums anymore. The sad part is GS seems not to mind it since they have a forum called "system wars", which is filled with crap.

I own an Xbox and a PC, and have plenty of games on both. Believe it or not, I prefer playing games on my Xbox, mainly because I have a big screen and a sofa thats more comfy than my computer chair. I love playing games on my PC, because it's the only machine that you ever see get any decent real-time strategy games. I am a huge StarCraft/WarCraft fan, and you can only get these on the PC. But these are PC Games by nature, where I feel that action games play out better on consoles w/ controllers. There are a lot of reasons to get an Xbox...Halo, Crimson Skies, Ninja Gaiden and KOTOR are only a handful. I think that when Halo 2, MechAssault 2, KOTOR 2, Doom 3 (w/ Xbox-only features, might I add), Fable, Sudeki, SW:Republic Commando and a ton of other sweet-looking new games come out, Xbox owners will be sitting pretty.

For the record, I don't have a Gamecube, but I think that it's a great console. I've spent hours at friends' houses playing Metroid Prime and Mario Kart: Double Dash. As for PS2, I had one that I never touched, so I sold it. I think that console has really gone downhill. The only good-looking game I see coming out any time soon as a PS2 exclusive is KillZone, but it's not like we're short on quality FPS's for the PC/Xbox.

Anyone can sit here all day trying to convince
a hard-core PS2 fan why their system is better,
or visa-versa. But in the end it matters on what
you trying to get from your system. If you're big into RPG's, then by all means pick up a PS2.
(God forbid XBOX actually brining out a true RPG
of worthy status!) Then on the other hand, if you're looking for a system with some good multi-player games, then XBOX will suit you fine. Both systems are more or less catered to
a certain crowd. Some will fit a counsel, some won't. And others...well they shouldn't be playing games to begin with.

People complain that the xbox is too big,but y don't those ignorant people consider y its big for a second?.The xbox has a dvd player,a modem and a built in hardrive, thats bound to take up some space. But so what, its not like ur gonna go carrying it everywhere, the only people who complain about its size are PS2 owners who can't find any other critical points about it.And in my oppinion the xbox controller is far better than the PS2 controller, those complaining about its size obviously have not seen the new smaller official xbox controller. And there actually are alot of fantastic xbox only games already out such as the king of RPG's Knights of the old Republic, the king of action games Ninja Gaiden, arguably the king of racing games Project Gotham Racing 2,the king of rally games Rallisport Challenge 2,argueably the king of army games Full Spectrum Warrior, the best ever flight game Crimson Skies, the greatest tennis game Top Spin, one of the best ever action games Shenmue 2,the best ever boxing game Rocky all only on xbox and I could keep on going. Also PS2 owners will no longer hold the cards as having the best soccer game as Pro Evo 4 is coming to xbox, plus there are so many awesome games coming out exclusively for the xbox soon, such as Halo 2,Fable,Sudeki,Forza Motorsport,Pure Pinball,Area 51,Rocky Legends,DOOM III,Tron 2.0,Jade Empire,Knights of the old Republic 2,Pariah,Star War:Republic Commando and many many more. And why is DOOM III not coming out for PS2,cos PS2 can't handle its graphics thats why, also Halo 2 will be on the xbox straight away when its released while pc owners will have to wait a very long time for it as usual. The xbox has a far superior graphics engine,it has a built in hardrive so no need to buy a memory card,u can put your own music on the hardrive and play the music on xbox games, plus i bet ya can't play dreamcast,n64 and mega drive games on ya ps2,well with an xbox mod chip you can do just that on ur xbox. The PS2 is being eclipsed, while the xbox is in the top ten for the most wanted gadgets for 2004,a rest my case.

I always thought xbox was better seeing as I often have problems installing games into the pc.I don't really like the gamecube disks because I keep losing them. I prefere xbox to playstation because of the way it looks but it's a pain having to move the xbox into different rooms.

Where you don't have to pay for anything? Are you kidding me? The PC? The PC is nothing but UPGRADES. I love PC gaming... but right after about the 3rd 3D card and the 2nd Hard Drive, I was done. I couldn't afford it anymore. And hardly anyone... and I mean "no one" puts their PC in the center of their living room (in a normal looking house) with its keyboard and mouse. You can. It ain't likely. It also costs some serious UPGRADES to do it.

The shoe can be on Sony's foot now. Xbox came after the PS2 and took advantage of putting out something that was technically superior to the PS2. The PS3 will now be able to trump the Xbox 360 in the same way. Let's see what happens.

Here in about 6 months, the PS3 guys can finally state that technically the Xbox 360 can't keep up. And the proof will be in the differences between in cross console games.

And if the PS2 really did beat the Xbox technically... then why didn't Riddick... which got a lot of acclaim and was originally supposed to be a cross console title... never get made for the PS2? Because the PS2 couldn't technically keep up. Why does every cross console title that comes out on the Xbox include either "identical" or "better" graphics and framerate? Because the PS2 can't keep up. Why is there better draw distance on GTA: San Andreas on the Xbox? Because it is technically a better system. Why did Bethesda NOT put Morrowind on the PS2, even though they wanted to? Because they technically COULD NOT. Why did Killzone... which was an excellent FPS fail??? because it technically couldn't keep up with itself. Bad framerate.

Well… I am a fan of the Xbox, but a large part of why the Xbox out performs in multi-platform releases is because it’s easier to develop for. The hardware is good, but… for example, Internet Explorer running on a Mac used to be slower than molasses, where as IE running on a Windows box was the cat’s ass. The Mac was no slouch… IE simply wasn’t optimized for the Mac.

You can make stuff run very fast on all systems, but the Windows platform is the easiest to optimize on. The OS is more widely used and thus graphical algorithms and such have been tweaked to an inch of their lives by an overwhelmingly devoted programmer base… base… all your base are belong to us!

I don’t doubt the hardware is a bit better in the Xbox, but let’s not ignore the more widely accepted OS it runs on. ;-)

The original Xbox has many games that aren't on the PC eg. Grabbed by the ghoulies, the Dead or alive series, games by Sega eg Super Monkey Ball deluxe (also on PS2) and Outrun 2, Rockstar's Red Dead Revolver (also on PS2), Blinx the timesweeper (given only average reviews but a great looking game let down by camera angles), Jet Set Radio Future (a version was previously on the Dreamcast).

The original Xbox's massive size is off-putting. Regarding the Xbox 360, its games are more costly than the PC versions (eg Quake 4 can be got for £15 on the PC in some places but is £44.99/£49.99 on the Xbox 360).
