This is probably a rumor BUT its a pretty cool rumor!!! Somewhere, I cant remember the source, it stated that the next 'box will feature an ipod-ish external hard drive. That sounds pretty cool to me. It would simplify the time-intensive labor that is ripping music onto machine. Does anyone know anything about this or anything about the next console???
There was that blueprint of a game console that was leaked from Microsoft a while ago, rumoured to be the Xbox 2. That didnt show a HD like you talked of.

I've heard this rumor as well. Microsoft has hinted very strongly that XBox Next won't have an internal hard-drive. My guess is that, unless the figure out a way to make high-capacity flash cards less expensive, they'll be selling the hard-drive as an addon.
There is an advantage to them for doing this. For one, it'll lower the cost of making the XBox Next by anywhere from $50 to $150. A less expensive console means more potential buyers. Secondly, if they can justify the making an external addon hard-drive to customers by adding cool features like a portable MP3 player, then customers will fork over the extra cash to satisfy their perceived need and others won't be able to complain that the XBox Next doesn't have a hard-drive.
Personally, I don't agree with this thinking. When I buy a console I want to be fairly complete (save for the games and maybe an extra controller). This just sounds like selling people an incomplete system and charging them ala carte prices for the things they'll need.
Still, an addon hard-drive is better than no hard-drive at all.

Yeah, buT id rather have to purchase a hard drive/ mp3 player over the existing hard drive. Mainly, because I cant stand the time it takes to upload a CD to the 'box. Its not that long, but it would be a lot faster this new way. Also, I have thousands of mp3s so this would give me an oppurtunity to get them on the 'box.
I have not heard of that rumor but I have heard that the game might be comming out next november or earily decemeber of 2005, they said it will be out before PS3. Sony is now trying to send PS3 out sooner so it wont be derailed by Xbox 2
