I'm kind of new to this x360 stuff so can you please tell me what the best packages are and which are better to avoid the dreaded Red Ring of Death?!

All have a slight chance of the Ring of Death, but don't worry about it.

Elite- $450- 120 gig. hard drive, hdmi, everything you need, best deal out of all the deals.

Premium- $350- 20 gig. hard drive, everything you need for the console, and this is the type of 360 I have, and I love it.

Core- $279- No hard drive, only reason to get this kind is if your not getting Xbox Live (which is the best part about the 360).

Hope that helps.

I haven't experienced the Ring of Death yet, but I have had to return my xbox 3 times so far (currently in the shop as I write this). You'll have a warranty for it, so don't worry about spending more than the original purchase price, but to say it's a pain in the ass returning my system is an understatement. This will be my 4th xbox 360 since August, 2006.

To avoid 3 rings of death, buy a 360 in the Spring when the new versions of the systems are out. That's what I'm doing.

I have two 360's. One here in China, and me original one back in Oz (bought at launch), left with a friend.

Neither have given me, or my friend a moments problem...so far...

If you intend to go online a lot, then go for the most memory, the elite pack. Look for special deals at any of those big chain stores.

well i dont know but here they just dropped price i dont have the elite cause its useless unless your gonna have a bunch of music and videos and demos and shit on it... My xbox was only 475$ with tax canadian i got a 10% discount tho so i only payed 410 regardless dont get the elite with the bigger hard drive unless you expect to use all that extra space... cause really that extra money could go towards games... anyways just get the one with the 20gig it works fine i dont get any light of death on mine but it doesnt always read the games so well and you have to take better care of your games compared to previouse systems. Cause i rent games and half of them dont work cause of one good scratch in the game. Its BS but i have to deal with it... anyways good luck its an amazing system

I think there is something fundamentally wrong when a consumer is looking at a product and is concerned with a product failure of said product before they even make the purchase.

Buy the extended warranty. Smiler

You don't need the extended warranty for the red rings

I own the Xbox Premium, and I'm very happy with it.
But, if you have the money, I would definitely recommend the Elite. More memory, HDMI cables, and it's black.
I think it's a deal.
