Hi!
My first post on Metacritic, but I am a longtime lurker.
I felt the need to register after playing Deadspace, and reading the somewhat underwhelming reviews on the game.
For me this game is hands down the Game Of The Year. I'm a multi-platform gamer that dabbles with multiple types of games. And no other game has had me this involved in a good year or so.
Sure you can see many of the obvious inspirations for the game come through but I don't think it ever comes off as overly cliché'd.
And aren't all great works of fiction all somewhat inspired by other great works of fiction anyhow?
Pros:
-Very immersive, often made me feel somewhat claustrophobic.
-Solid Graphics
-Stellar sound production. I have 5.1 SS system, but played this using my Tritton AX360 headphones and WOW did I ever feel jumpy!
-Fun Weapons.
-Great Death Scenes.
-The teaser Animated Comics, and the Anime feature length movie which explain a lot of the plot. This, IMO, is the future of gaming, and I hope that more and more gaming companies will take cues from that.
Cons:
-Somewhat short storyline, I think about 20 hours of gameplay for a FPS/TPS is perfect.
-Isaac doesn't speak.
A Xbox360 must have for any fans of horror, sci fi, and shooters.
