I just finished my first playthrough of Dead Space and I am wowed. While I do think that it was a little short the complaints about backtracking seemed to be blown way out of proportion considering the amount of action. Seriously, there is nothing scarier in a game than walking back into a room you knew was safe only to have a disgusting necromorph ambush you from above. Metacritic score is an 89.....I can easily rank this in my top 5 for the year.

is there any sort of new game+ like RE4 had, where you can carry over weapons/upgrades (if there are any). Just trying to figure out if this is worth a buy or if I should borrow it off a friend considering there are so many good games coming out and I'm trying to save money were I can.

One of the best games I've ever played. I would definetly give it my game of the year vote now. There's no way anyone else can match all the quality that's in this game.

Hi!
My first post on Metacritic, but I am a longtime lurker.

I felt the need to register after playing Deadspace, and reading the somewhat underwhelming reviews on the game.

For me this game is hands down the Game Of The Year. I'm a multi-platform gamer that dabbles with multiple types of games. And no other game has had me this involved in a good year or so.

Sure you can see many of the obvious inspirations for the game come through but I don't think it ever comes off as overly cliché'd.

And aren't all great works of fiction all somewhat inspired by other great works of fiction anyhow?

Pros:
-Very immersive, often made me feel somewhat claustrophobic.
-Solid Graphics
-Stellar sound production. I have 5.1 SS system, but played this using my Tritton AX360 headphones and WOW did I ever feel jumpy!
-Fun Weapons.
-Great Death Scenes.
-The teaser Animated Comics, and the Anime feature length movie which explain a lot of the plot. This, IMO, is the future of gaming, and I hope that more and more gaming companies will take cues from that.

Cons:
-Somewhat short storyline, I think about 20 hours of gameplay for a FPS/TPS is perfect.
-Isaac doesn't speak.

A Xbox360 must have for any fans of horror, sci fi, and shooters.

Dead Space is easily in my top two favorite games (My top 5 games are in my signature). I love the ending, I want to talk about it but I wouldn't want to spoil the ending for anyone that hasn't beaten it Cool. What's your favorite weapon? Mine is my fully upgraded pulse rifle Smiler and I love level 6 armor, looks a little too much like storm trooper armor though.

Might have been a bit short, but who cares. It looked gorgeous on my mediocre laptop, great game, great story, and I'll admit that one or two late nights playing it there were a couple of parts that made me jump

I really thought it was good and really fun to play. The story line was pretty generic and/or cliche but it was still fun. There really isn't a whole lot of innovation in the story, I think that's pretty much my only real problem with the game, but I thought it was really a lot of fun. A bit short too.

9 is a very respectable score, and for me I couldn't think of a reason not to give it a 10. It's definitely one of the sleeper hits from last year and if you can get it cheap right now, say $30 or so off ebay or something, it's very much worth it.

in my top 3 of all time (including half life 2 + both episodes and still deciding what # 3 is). this games was better than Resi 4 in terms of thrills, but resi's a little outdated and ive beaten it a few times, and if it weren't for resi 4 there would probably not be dead space, because of the aiming. but the aiming was much better in dead space than resi 5 and... im gonna stop talking and tell everyone i know to buy it and watch the best video game ending ive ever seen. they should have more survival horror games on the psp if they don't make a second.

I think ive done my part to improve society.
