*Minor Spoiler Alert*
Names and some descriptions of the levels to follow. No major story elements given away!

So here's a question for all of you Jacks out there. Which is your favorite Bioshock level? Medical Pavillion, Neptune's Bounty, Fort Frolic?

I personally liked the Farmer's Market best. I did find the bees a bit frustrating, but I really liked the look. Probably, after that, I liked Rapture Central Control. I thought the streetcars were pretty cool.

to answer your question kendocuban, i'm not sure yet but i love all of them so far. very distinctively broken and claustrophobic. mirrors the themes a little, eh?

the art throughout was amazing. even in the beginning tower sequence, the art for industry, art and science was impressively detailed. That's what the artists did a great job of doing: getting the little details right which add up into making this miserable dystopia.

and the game is ridiculously hard on hard, kendocubano. I probably should have started on medium but, no, I thought I was a veteran player. At least killing a big daddy is very satisfying. Of course I get revived in the vita chamber 3x to kill the adam addicted bastard.

I was able to play and beat neptune's bounty but my xbox is gone again. Frowner

no, college. sorry for the confusing wording. Smiler

Though this is my third xbox.

my dad believes an xbox (complete with bioshock and later Halo 3 and way later my most anticapted darling, Mass Effect) is a distraction from my terrific studies. i'm trying to convince him to get me a tv but so far, not so good.

to be fair, i do study a fair amount but also i'm kind of taking an insane load so this is my own doing: I'm a cognitive science major with a minor in history and spanish with the overall intent of pre-medicine. Somehow I have to graduate in four years.

Enjoy it! I know you've heard it a million times, but this is your last chance to explore all the stuff you're interested in. Especially if you go on to medicine. I majored in Religious philosophy, with a classics minor. I'd love to go back and study that stuff again. Instead, I just prowl the religion thread, and lob bombs!

I also want to push in some creative writing (triple minor???) and I initially wanted to double major in history and cognitive science but i would be here for 5 years. which is alright for me but I don't think my parents would like it.

i'll be taking a lot of philosophy courses within cog science so I'll be able to join in that argument with at least some intelligent discussion or the current school of thought's ideas at least.

Everything! The story, the graphics, the gameplay, the levels, whatever you want! But, how about we start with this: (Spoiler Alert)
When you finally get to Andrew Ryan, does he know that you're his son? If he does, does he know that you've been manipulated by Atlas to come after him? If so or if not, why does he let you kill him? Heck, why does he essentially demand that you kill him? Is it simple disillusionment with the way Rapture turned out? What do you think?

Fantastic game, complete and total anti-climax at the end though, complete with the least satisfying ending in a game I've seen since Soul Reaver. I beat the big boss first time - could probably have taken him just with the wrench. The cut scene at the end was very disappointing. It must have lasted less than 20 seconds and left me slightly deflated. Apparently there are 3 endings, so I might play it again at some point.

Normal, or medium or whatever. The difficulty was fine up until the end. Please don't get me wrong, I loved every second of the game, apart from the end, which like I said, I just felt was a poor finish to a great game.

I played on easy, since I'm not much of a gamer, and was more interested in the experience, than the mechanics of button mashing. I agree that the cut scene at the end seemed a bit anti-climactic. However, I wonder if failing to tell you what happens to Rapture leaves an opening for the sequel. If a sequel were written, how would you do it? I'd love to go to the moment when Rapture just starts to sink into chaos. Just at the point when Atlas/Fontaine starts the uprising against Ryan. That would give you the opportunity to try to save Rapture, or speed along it's destruction.

I'm really looking forward to your take on it, Ish. Just keep thinking about Ayn Rand's works throughout.

This thread's been dead since september but I'm bringing it up again since I finally got this game.
So far I'm only a few hours into it so but I'm mightily impressed. This may be an FPS but it's so different to the competition thanks a a very unique world and some seriously twisted characters.
The art deco/50s design is truly original and a nice change as opposed to the endless amount of boring caves or war torn cities that seems to rule the FPS these days. Apart from that there are simply so many things to see and do in this game. You really get sucked right in to a very believable alternate universe.
Essential to play if you haven't already. And it's usually found on sale nowadays too!
