Has anybody played Full Spectrum Warrior yet?? I know it's only been out for a couple of days, but I'm looking forward to playing it. I'm heading to a promotional event hosted by Pandemic in Westwood during which we'll be able to play against a few actual servicemen & women. I wonder if actual soldiers would be better tactical action gamers than your typical gamer?

I picked it up yesterday and it's the greatest military simulation on the XBox I've ever seen. Though I don't have military experience, everything feels extremely authentic. Even the squad member chatter feels right. The control system is the perfect example of brilliance in simplicity. Graphics are amazingly good. It looks like they even put some sort of effect that makes it look like it's on film, very subtle effect though so it's not distracting. The explosion effects are the best I've ever seen on the XBox and probably better than most of what I've seen on PC. Great 5.1 sound too! I haven't played coop yet, but as soon as my friend picks this up, we're on it.

I can't say much bad about this game. If I had to pick a couple minor gripes, then I've got two. The level design seems a bit linear. While the urban area looks open and all, you don't have as much freedom to go anywhere as you'd think you should. Sure there's there's enough openness to flank (and this game's got a lot of flanking) but there's really few options as to how you could flank.

My second gripe is minor too. The replay system is awesome for being able to replay what you did and jump in at any point. Truly unique system, seems inspired by Prince of Persia if you ask me. However, when you view the replay, you can only fastforward, pause, and play. Not having the ability to rewind or skip to the end means you may have to wait several minutes to get to the point you wanted to jump into, because fastforward only goes 2x speed. Also, if you don't pay attention and fast forward past the point you wanted to, then your only option is to start the replay over from the beginning.

Fortunately, there are several save points throughout the mission, so you won't have to wait anymore then about 3 to 5 minutes when fastforwarding in a replay.

Trust the great reviews you're reading about this game, they're right on. It has my vote for best Strategy, Military, Action, Simulation of the Year (if there ever is such an award Razzer)

Im not a huge simulation gamer. I favor the action side. So, does this game have enough action to whet my appetite?

There is definitely more simulation than action in my opinion. I personally liked this game, but got bored pretty quickly. First of all, it's hard to coordinate both teams at the same time. I don't know how they would do it better, but I found myself leaving one team at the beginning and going through the whole level with one team. I wouldn't be bothered with moving one team and then moving another.

Also, I agree that the levels are definitely linear. There are places to flank, but there is only ONE place to flank. Oh well, it's probably a rental unless you're a total military freak.

Game Revolution's review wasnt too praising of it. IMO GR's reviews are really accurate and they are alot less likely to be swayed by hype and graphics.

I thought it lacked gameplay and was kind of repetitive. Just my opinion though.

One small thing I've noticed. Having to move over far distances becomes a pain due to the lack of a
overhead camera. Would be nice to toggle a overhead camera, pick a spot far away (almost un-viewable by the player), then have your squad walk there. Right now if you want to move back to
a medic location, you may have to end up moving 5 or 6 times before you get there. VS. being able to just click there on an overhead map.
