Although i have never played Half-Life i feel that Halo 2 at the moment for Xbox is the ultimate game, although other Xbox 360 Games are betteri am currently looking forward to Halo 3. One thing that bugs me though is according to Halo 1 it appears that Johnson was killed on Halo but yet he appears on Halo 2?

In a match between Halo 2 and Half-life 2, Half-life 2 wins easily. Yes, Halo 2 does have a massive online following, but the single player is inferior to the other game. Also, I personally refuse to pay over $100 a year just to play Halo 2 online, when I can play Halo on the PC for free, which, in my opinion, has better multiplayer. But real question is which of THESE games are better: Halo 1 or Half-life 2? To see my opinion on that, see other forums I have written in for that opinion.
Yeah, I was big fan of Halo (and Rocky) which was why I purchased an Xbox. Enjoyed Halo 2 immensely and didn't think it could be topped as a FPS. That was till Half Life 2 came along. The target aiming, when you pump a .45 or even the pistol it really feels like you've fired a gun. That might be to do with the headshots. Furthermore the interactive story, the depth of graphic environments, and the journey were just a notch above Halo 2. Best shooter on the box.
As far as multiplayer goes - then Battlefield 2 is hands down the best game on Xbox Live.
Theres no question, as far as the single-player mode goes....Half Life 2 wins hands down. The story mode in Halo 2 was weak and the missions were relatively boring not to mention the lame ending. Half Life 2 is the most interactive fps i've ever played on the xbox. The physics are amazing and the weapons are unique. (it doesnt get any better than the gravity gun) The voice acting and the storyline on top of that.....its just an absolutely brillaint game.

Playing Half life 2 for the first time on Xbox is an enthralling experience with awesome graphics, story and game play; however this feeling is short lived. Repeating the campaign is more a task than an adventure, it is tiresome and incredibly boring. Halo 2 provides unique game play that can be repeated over and over. It is basic FPS gaming at its best. Although the story is weak, the combination of vehicles, awesome multiplayer, co-op and a larger array of weapons makes Halo 2 a more complete package.

Halo2 has the best multiplayer ever, Half life2 has one of the best single player champain ever. Its like apples and oranges it depends what you like more a lot of people dont play online the single player everyone can expeirence, but im not going to choose between those their both great.
I've personally never really understood the Halo/Halo2 craze. I mean sure I understand they're great games and it's definitly fun to get 3 of your friends and play hang 'em high snipers on Halo 1 but it all seems inferior to a lot of PC games in my mind. There's a ton of games on PC i'd rather play than Halo or Halo 2, I think one of the biggest things for me is graphics and controls. I think that a gamepad is just not the best way to play a FPS. Keyboard and mouse are just clearly above and beyond better for an FPS. And then there's graphics. My geforce 7 series video card and 21 inch monitor are absolutly better than xbox hooked up to a poor resolution tv which you have to look at from across the room. Even with xbox 360 you need a bigscreen tv to truly have a better experience than me right next to my computer monitor. Sure, have fun with your halo/halo2 but in time you'll realize those consoles are really only good for madden, mvp baseball, and fifa. Sorry halo.

Ahh, metacritic. I haven't posted in these forums since like ever. Anyway, this doesn't really pertain to past post, but it just came across my mind when I read it. It's been in some magazines and what not, and I really shouldn't be posting in an Xbox forum, but I was wondering if the popularity of PC games will raise or decline throughout these next few years. From what I've read I think it's actually declining, but I was wondering what your take on the future of PC games, especially since the new consoles are coming out soon.
Well, I really hope that PC gaming doesn't continue to decline, if that is the case now. Even with the huge explosion of people buying big screen HD tv's and consoles with specs matching or surpassing plenty of PC gamers machines, I still feel that PC gaming is not simply going to die off. For one thing, you have the whole MMORPG crowd (and we know it's a huge one) and at least currently, those games just wouldn't work on a console. I think that what really limits consoles, is the controller, and the immersion factor. I simply hate gamepads. I've been using mouse and keyboard my whole life and trust me if I could play Halo on my pc against my friends on their XBOX, it would even things up a bit. I love the gamepad for sports games, but i just feel the keyboard and mouse is superior in FPS. Then there's the immersion factor. I love being immersed in a game, which I really haven't ever experienced with a console. With my 150 watt surround sound speakers and big monitor right in my face, you're just right in the action. That being said, playing Fight Night on a 360 on a 56 inch big screen is appealing too.
I agree with James1503 entirely. I've played both games, and both are great. Half life has an amazing in depth one player, while halo 2 is a great game to play online or just with some friends. So, it all depends on what you like
Aaaaaarrrrrrrgh..I keep forgetting to buy Half Life 2!! It must be because I'm busy going nuts w/ Halo 2 online! ( I do hear nothing but good things about Half Life 2 though )
bungie (halo) has done solid yoeman's work bringing fps to the macintosh and then consoles. they should be respected for that.
but valve (half-life) stole the belt from id on the pc, and since then they've innovated consistently on all fronts: distro, tech, introducing gameplay mechanics, driver-level gpu code, their stories are better, they create a better entertainment product... and now they're releasing simultaneously on console and with macs having dual-boot capability... well, it's over.
sorry, halo loses. making movies is kinda neat, but i'm not going to pay seven bucks a moonth for the privlege of showing them to other people and i probably don't want to watch other people's movies of the game i just played either.
anyone who thinks other wise is, frankly, a fool. who probably wears wonder-woman underoos and laughs at garfeild cartoons.

that's precisely why pc gaming won't go down. i'm a cheap sumbitchwho almost never buys home entertainment stuff, but i just blew my check on an hdtv and a wireless mouse. i've been running windows mce, but now it doesn't matter; i've moved the whole system away from my desk. the only time i go in there is to get something off the printer.
there's no reason to have a console. i'm thinkin of modding my xbox, but then i'm thinking, "for what?"
