I have a hard time finding for the best RPG games in Xbox 360 as i did not want to waste my money on games that are not very enticing. As far as i have researched, the reviews from other websites are that Elder scrolls IV : Oblivion was the best. I thought of Fable 2 was also the best game. So what is your choice?
I've made a terrible mistake... I've recently (October 2008) purchased a XBOX360 and the first RPG I've played was... FABLE II! Man, once you've experienced Fable II, all the rest s#cks! I'm a big fan of RPG games. I finished Fable 2 with 1100/1100G which was a REAL pleasure unlocking the achievements, and now I'm playing Two Worlds. Man!! That game s#cks big time. Two Worlds is the total opposite of FABLE II.
I've also read a bunch of positive stuff about Oblivion and Lost Odyssey, which are also in my game collection but haven't started playing it yet since I got a little addicted to HALO 3, a kind of game that wouldn't get any of my attention on a normal occasion. And still, I have to admit that I enjoyed a lot playing HALO 3. Back to RPG, Fallout 3 is also on my wish list.
I believe with these few games listed above, you'll experience a lot of pleasure spending your time unlocking achievements for the next couple of months!!
C ya
(gameplay rules, story rules, and most of all, the graphics RULE a lot since there are almost no FPS problems!)
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is an incredible game. If you are looking to truly immerse yourself in something (aka lose a major chunk of your life) I'd highly recommend either Oblivion or Fallout 3, depending on whether you want to be more old age or modern.
The only other thing I'll say is that I was not impressed with Fable II at all and would say its one of the more over rated titles out there. The open ended-ness of the world is severly over exaggerated as there are many areas you simply can't get to. The story line is very linear and for all the hype there are three endings no matter what.
Go with Fallout 3, its incredible. Easily one of the most fun games of the last five years.
Mass Effect is the second best RPG on the system, after Oblivion. In terms of production values it is light years ahead of anything that Bethesda have released; graphics, voice acting, and writing are just a cut above. There are some repetitive side quests but overall it is a much more contained, well-designed game than Fallout 3. Fallout is a blast but involves a lot of trudging about dull environments taking on stupid enemies, whereas Mass Effect has all the depth of a great RPG without making you wait for the good stuff. It's a deluxe package compared to the gritty but flawed Fallout, though they're both really good games.
I recommend Fallout 3 and Mass Effect. I didn't get too into Oblivion myself and I just started playing Fable II and I don't find it to be all that great.

Hi, I am playing Chronicles of Riddick. Two games in one! One of the best shooters I've played and it incorporates stealth rather well. Excellent gameplay.
I'm the best

I've always been a JRPG fan, and of that breed I'd say the best are Tales of Vesperia & Lost Odyssey. I would recommend Star Ocean 4...but the voice acting...oh God...
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is pretty damned good, too.

Fable II? Personally, I feel betrayed by that game. I won't ever trust Peter Middle Name Molyneux again... Nor buy any Lionhead game again, or at least, I doubt it.
3rd Place: Kotor
An old favorite, maybe cause I'm nerdy and it has lots of Star Wars canon.
2nd place: Mass Effect
Ah, this was a great one. Not only is it a great third-person shooter, had a story that puts any Final Fantasy game to shame, an innovative dialogue system, and, of course it's from BIOWARE but it has the #1 thing I want in an RPG: I felt like I was there. I wasn't me, I was Commander Zayle Shepard of the Alliance Fleet and the Citadel Special Tactics and Reconassaince. This immersion is something also shared with my #1 game, which is...
3rd place: Fallout 3
This game, more than any other RPG or any game period has SUPREME AWESOMENESS. Anyone who's played it understands.
On that last one...I made a mistake. Not in declaring it my #1 RPG...I rented it. I was taking in all of it's awesomeness for ONE WEEK. Then, I...returned it. Now, I need to sell a buncha games on eBay so that I can buy Fallout 3 on eBay...Man, I need more Fallout...
Edit: Hey, now i think of it, would it be considered spam to post links to those listings?
I'm actually a bit disappointed with the rpg games out for the xbox 360. Here are the ones I've played
Mass Effect: Not bad, the action is fun if a little too easy but it feels like you don't get enough time to interact with your party members. Kotor was much better in my opinion. However, this IS the best RPG out on the xbox right now, I would have to recommend Mass effect for you to get. The cinematics are really pleasing and the combat gets harder and more fun after you beat the game twice.
Oblivion: I respect this game but it's hard for me to like as a hardcore morrowind fan. While the graphics and mechanics are awesome, the story just doesn't do it for me and it's not quite as immersive as Morrowind
Fallout 3: This one really disappointed me because the old fallout had awesome characters to interact with and had great stories but this fallout is just oblivion. If you like oblivion you should buy this game.
Fable 2: I remember hearing that the first fable was supposed to be the morrowind slayer. Well here we have a second installment and it still fails to live up to that title. It's really not that different than the first fable. I do like that you can be a girl in this one though.
Lost Odyssey: This game seems to be a little confused of it's identity. The humor from your companions seems like it's aimed at the 7 and younger demographic while the memories are quite emotional and are intended for a bit older of an audience. As far as JRPG's go, this game doesn't break any new ground and the combat gets really boring after a while.
Well I personally have not played Fable 2 due to the complete disappointment I had with the first one. ( I bought it, finished it, returned it within a weekend, that in and of itself should never happen in a rpg.)
To be honest I dont know if its just me getting older or what but RPGs in general just arnt as appealing to me as they were when I was younger.
All of that being said Fallout 3 is an amazing game. I really think I might just be burned out from elves, orcs, knights, magicians, and so on. Fallout 3's setting being a nuclear wastland and not some forest just seemed to click with me. I currantly have a gamer score over 1000 and just cant seem to get it out of my xbox for any leangth of time. I even took a long break (3ish months) and still came back to play it with great vigor. That is something that rarly happens with any kind of game for me.
The elder scrolls Oblivion, Fallout 3 , Mass Effect all received game of the year awards and are all great...Fable 2 dissapointed a lot of people, including me
The only JRPG I've played on the xbox is lost oddysey and i was disappointed with that one. It has nothing to offer that final fantasy doesn't do better. I'm waiting for FFXIII to come out
