Easily my most eagerly awaited show of the new season. And not just because I'm contributing an essay to the Philosophy and Pop Culture book series upcoming volume on 24 and Philosophy...

The first ten minutes have been awesome, I'll post again at the end of the episode...

I can still honestly say that after six seasons 24 still has it going on!
Fast-paced (as usual), Violent, Shocking, Smart the first two hours of the new season were absolutely outstanding.

Really, really good first two hours. Although, I'm having a little trouble with the suspension of disbelief. How did Jack heal his wounds so quickly?

And how did he get from the terrorist torture lair to the house, in L.A. morning traffic, before two helicopters???

I wasn't into 24 for the first couple seasons, so I ended up watching them on DVD. It's so addicting to watch that way. You can't stop. I was burning through a season in less than a week.

Anyway, on to Season 6.

I'm glad they brought Morris O'Brien back. He's a nice contrast to most of the dullards working at CTU.

And Karen Hayes and Bill Buchanan...Who knew? I wonder if she bosses him around all the time at home. They're no Tony and Michelle.

My biggest question for the season is when and how are they going to bring in ever-present cabinet member Mike Novick to uncover(or be part of) some White House conspiracy.

I was thinking the same thing! You're right about watching it on DVD. I watched the first two seasons the same way and it really can't be beat.

I have no problem with the suspension of disbelief, I put 24 just below Heroes and Lost in that regard. Jack Bauer is sort of like Batman in that respect, he's a real guy, but still a superhero. Although, I guess he's also sort of like Hiro Nakamura in that he seems to be able to bend time and space! Big Grin

As far as the first two hours, obviously the high-point had to be Jack taking a chunk out of that guys neck with his teeth! I also like that they brought Morris back. He takes some of the comic relief duties off of Chloe.

I also like the feeling they're giving us that Jack has gone (relatively) soft. I loved the "I don't know how to do this anymore" followed by "You'll remember" exchange. We certainly hope he does!

Anyone have a guess about who the vice-president is? I have a feeling that it will be some returning character. Any chance it could be Novick?

I'm curious as to what Wayne Palmer had to do to get Jack out of the Chinese prison. I wonder if it has something to do with his sister and those files.

That momentarily crossed my mind last night. And what about Aaron Pierce? He's the only other besides Jack and Mike to make it through every day, and he has history with the Palmer family.

How about Audrey Raines? Wouldn't that be a crazy twist?

Yep. I'm still not sure they aren't pumping some addictive chemical through my ventilation system when the show is on. Big Grin 24 is crack on the airwaves.

I'm also in complete agreement with PRG about Jack losing his edge. Personally I thought that was definitely the highlight of the first two hours; they didn't kill Jack, they... destroyed him.

Or not. But I just can't shake this uneasy feeling that we may never see him torture someone the same way again.

After the meltdown and the bomb, I can't believe people still live in the greater Los Angeles area! That moment with Curtis was quite intense! I was sort of wishing Jack would do the Michael Corleone "Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in." Big Grin
