Oh no. You aren't gonna start a "Cellular" Vs "Phonebooth" thread now, are ya?

However, in the end to my mind it is just another soap opera hiding behind a cleverer than thou attitude.
There was a film made recently in real time from four different camera angles. "Timequake" or "Time...something".
The story was rather weak, but it was relatively well executed.
Ironically enough, considering who's in it,I think that "Phoneboth" is a good example of real time cinema.
I'm not sure I think 24 is trying to be "cleverer than thou"...I think it's just trying to be cleverer (and better) than most of the dramas on TV. The movie you mentioned is Timecode from Mike Figgis. Not my favorite Figgis film, but good. I've not seen Cellular, but I thought Phone Booth was well-executed, well-paced, and quite intense. I think a lot of people hated it because of Colin Farrell, which is too bad. He was good in it, as was Kiefer.

I was very intently watching this week's "24", and I kept waiting for something to happen. I'll admit that it kept me interested, but they seemed to be holding back.....then the last five minutes had at least a half-hour's worth of stuff happen. Then the preview for next week sounds like there's not enough fans to scrape the ever-livin' sh*t off! I can't wait until next week!

There are two kinds of 24 episodes: the non-stop action eps and the setting up for the non-stop action eps. Thus far this season, it's been mostly the former...this was really the first of the latter in season 4. But even in the set-up (you could call them "take a breath") episodes you get some crazy action in parts... I noticed a PSA about the show played during this weeks episode, but I didn't hear what it said...was this something about the accusations that the show is hostile to Muslims, akin to what Filmore was upset about earlier in this thread?

Wasn't he in the remake of The Italian Job? I think he was, and he was pretty good. I enjoyed the remake, particularly Stratham and Mos Def. Not great, but good popcorn fun.

I don't think they've said. I expect that plotline will resurface...it doesn't seem like it was a red herring in the storyline. I thought the last time we saw her she had coded but had been revived...but that can't be it, can it? The writers are too smart to let that angle drop so suddenly...

Yes, I enjoyed last night's episode a lot because I thought the actual suspense factor was pumped WAY up, but that whole ending with the mole and the computer and the worthless support team could have played out a bit better. I don't know why the "team" disappeared and why they didn't just get the computer info from the mole and cut off the dead guy's thumb. Oh well, maybe if they used his thumb, she wouldn't have had the correct passwords, etc., but as it turned out, it didn't really matter. This season is starting to seem like a chess game with each side losing pieces every episode.

Ok, so what did you guys think of last nights episode? (2/28/05) I thought it was great in a number of respects. Of course the action was great as was the story development. But where I was most pleased...and I'm sorry to say...was the death of Linnie McCallister from Home Alone (aka Maya Driscoll). Her part in the show was absolutely unnecessary and, in my opinion, was used only to add another piece of drama to CTU. Not to mention I thought she was overacting horribly. What did you guys think?

Yea, well you see this one? This was my dream, my wish....and it didn't come true. So I'm taking it back, I'm taking them all back. -Face
