Okay, so I saw every episode of the 1st and 2nd season but not a single episode of the 3rd. So now I'm watching the 4th season and I'm very confused...WHERE HAVE ALL THE CHARACTERS GONE! The only old character is Jack. Where is President Palmer, Tony or Jack's daughter Kim?? Did they all die in the 3rd season or did the actors just not want to do any more shows? Anyone know?

Glad you started this thread...I posted my comments under "Best Show on TV" which was not smart of me. There are Season Three spoilers ahead, if you care to know.

Here's what I know, from the shows and from what I've read about the show:

Kim and Chase will not appear much, if at all, this season. Chase appeared in season 3 as Jack's new partner and (secretly) Kim's lover. Kim was working (badly) for CTU in Season 3. They were mentioned in episode 1 of season 4 as still living in Cali where Chase works for a security company and Kim is raising his daughter.

Tony Almeda and Michelle Dessler (who was introduced in season 3 as Tony's fiance and a co-worker at CTU) WILL appear in later episodes of season 4. Michelle will, allegedly, have a good size part. But both were facing treason charges at the end of season 3 for their actions during that day.

President Palmer was ousted by the cabinet in Season 3 for incompetence or duress, if I recall, and I'm not sure they've explained WHY he's out of the limelight. But he did get some sort of virus at the end of season two from that creepy terrorist chick.

From the Variety buzz about the show, they made the changes, primarily, to liven things up and infuse some new blood.

If you really want to catch up, rent Season 3. A LOT of stuff happened that bears on the things that go on in the current season (Jack got hooked on heroin as part of an undercover operation, the President's wife was shot and (?) killed {we never saw the dead body!}, Nina Meyers was killed by Jack, etc.)

Yeah I've been wanting to rent season 3 but just haven't gotten around to it yet, even though most of it has already been ruined for me. (Not by you, PE, I found out most of those things already from some bean spilling friends of mine.) I hope at least Tony and President Palmer come back a bit, they were two of my favorite characters.

This is now my wife's favorite show, superseding any "Star Trek"s and "Law and Order"s. Yes, this season's totally crazy so far, and therefore up to snuff. As far as the President goes, what I understand is that Palmer didn't seek re-election due to his "family problems", and his wife IS supposed to be pushin' up daisies.

This is my favorite show on now, and as far as I'm concerned, one of the best, most original shows in, dare I say, TV history? I love it! Those of you that have not seen season 3, rent it! even if it has been "spoiled" by others, it is still worth it. The first episodes of this season are amazing so far. Does anyone know the time frame for this season? If what I'm getting is correct (from www.tvtome.com/24/index.html ) this season takes place 18 months after the end of season 3. I thought some references in the first couple episodes of this season were interesting, like someone saying they had been working on this case for 4 years. Did anyone else pick up on that?

Yea, well you see this one? This was my dream, my wish....and it didn't come true. So I'm taking it back, I'm taking them all back.

The time frame, as I recall, is that season 2 began a year after season 1. Season 3 began more than three years after season 2. And Season 4 begins 18 months after Season 3. So, it's been almost 6 years since the events of Season 1. I didn't catch the four years reference, jackie, but that would have put the beginnings of this case somewhere in the time frame of Season 3.

It's an excellent show, and the only one that keeps me enthralled for a full hour. I don't read, write, or websurf while it's on, lest I miss something.

This week didn't let me down, either.

It's just a wild rollercoaster ride.

While they've set the Middle Eastern family up as really bad guys, I wonder if there's more to them than meets the eye.

Seriously...you KNOW Jack isn't going to mess around with going in that building. Screw the bunker-busters...he's got work to do! I know she has now killed the girl, but my wife and I were wondering if Shohreh Aghdashloo is under cover? Probably not, but you never know.

I was thinking the same thing. I just think there's GOT to more to that family than meets the eye. They seem SO evil (killing the girlfriend and all) that there's got to be more depth. And maybe Shohreh didn't kill the girl...maybe the drugs paralyzed her and the son's gunshot (forced by his mom, of course, but that's beside the point) was what killed her...

Well, actually the mom shot the gun herself, using the pillow as a silencer and then told the father that the son did it. I knew the son would never do something like that. Or at least I thought so, until HE turned evil too, with the whole "It was my cellphone, we downloaded the same ringtone when we started dating" part.

of course ther ei smore to the family. The father was basically running the whole terrorist thing...and as far as the gun goes.I am sure that the gurk died from poisening and the mom wanted the biy to shoo the daughter so when the father came back and saw here.he would be proud of his so for taking care of it.

Kind of confusing but if u go back and see it it is prety easy to figure out.

Myabe iam stating the obvious...and u all know this already...but this fmaily is bad news. The kid is evil too...lol...i love this show.

You're right...my bad. My memory failed me on that one.

I'm guessing the son is gonna switch sides before too long...but they've got big twists coming, I'm sure.

Who was that white dude in the warehouse where the Secretary and his daughter were being held?

still waiting to see what the white dude wa sup too.as far as i know they didnt reveal his identity yet.

I love this series...and i just started watching it on this year. The fourth year.

So to catch up i went and rented season one and watche dit this weekend.WOW...that was a crazy year.

I am on the second year now...only a couple episodes in...but it already seems kid of not boring but not as good.

I guess i am tired of the whole terrorost thing.I liked the fact that in the 1st season it was like a personal vendetta...and they were russian.Maybe season 2 will change...but who knows there are so many twists and turns...

I just hope watching different seasons at one wont jack my memory up at all.

Oh my god, last night's episode was OFF THE HOOK! In my opinion, easily the best of the season so far. The first 10 minutes were amazing. And, the first real "twist(s)" of the season were great! The discovery of the true reason for the execution trial, as well as finding out that the sly new girl at CTU is actually evil! Brilliant!
