Sorry, I know it is three weeks too early, but they have started showing previews and I already can't wait! Even the damn commercials leave me wanting more!

I'm right there with you PRG. 24 is easily one of the best shows on TV, and I have yet to see a season that disappoints. I can't wait until the new season starts.

Well after watching the first two hours, I must say it was the most explosive opening yet as far as what happened. I'm not sure how much I want to get into it yet since some may not have watched it. More to come!

I've never gotten into 24 because every episode I've watched (A couple from the first season and second) had too implausible writing for me to get into.

I love Sutherland though, and the production value and style is clearly awesome. I was going to give it another chance last night, but it was at the same time as the Stones show. Maybe I'll watch tonight's episodes...

Maybe they're relying less on randomness, coincedence, and people acting super-irrationally since last time I watched.

--

Edit: I watched the episodes tonight, and..they were much better than the very early episodes I saw. Much more excitement, and no 'amnesia' crap or anything like that. The tension seemed legitimate and not contrived, like the first season ones I watched.

So..at least for now I'm going to keep watching. Maybe I'll try to watch the seasons OTHER than season one, which is what turned me off to the series.

Jack's wife getting Amnesia, was one of the lamest things in the first season.

I'd still say the second season is my favorite, although the first half of the fourth season was pretty killer too. It's too early to tell in this season, but so far it's been pretty sweet. I saw Keifer Sutherland on Charlie Rose the other day and he said this season would be more intrigue and less action than the past couple seasons.

This is definitely the best opening four hours of any season yet. I'm worried though that they won't be able to keep it up for the whole day. They're already going to the familiar poison-gas-attack thing that they did last year.

With 24, I don't care what flaws there are in the plot, as long as it stays suspenseful. The first 4 hours were awesome. I hope the writers are able to keep it exciting without it becoming implausible, but I can suspend my disbeleif to a certain extent.
As for the poioson gas thing that was shown at the end of the last hour, maybe there'll be an explosive, ingenious twist, and it's something completely different!

Yeah, the first couple of hours have been intense, but I understand what you mean paxsoprano...I hope they can keep the pace...

For you season 2 and 3 fans, I just heard they're releasing a video game of what happens between seasons 2 and 3...one of the original writers of the show worked on the game, so it must be for real.

I am really enjoying the new season. I found season 4 someone boring, yet loved 1, 2, and 3. I hope this one will live up to the first couple.

Where have you and your Bro been, Strangers? Cool

"24"'s been great so far. Hopefully, they have plenty of tricks up their sleeves (rather than in some yuckier places.)

I don't think it necessarily has to always make sense or be realistic, but I can't get into cliches or contrived drama. Like, a car randomly falls off a ledge, and Jack's family keeps getting put in danger.

But, the season five hours three and four didn't seem at all contrived, or at least, not to the point where it's bothersome.

Eh, it is only ever contrived after the first 6 or 7 hours. I think how the writers do it is they come up with an initial plot/problem, and then they just start making up different stuff. They never stick with one specific plotline for all 24 hours, so naturally the situations that keep coming up seem contrived. It is an inherent problem with the format of the show.

Hey guys! Although my life is much busier than it was at this time last year, there is always time for 24!

I still think the writing is superb on this show. I see where you could make the argument that no one would have to deal with this many "terrorist" acts in the span of 5 or 6 years. But as I said, I think the excellent writing keeps things going at a highly engaging pace where we don't have time to say or even think about the "reality" of things. One of the reasons I like this show is the casting. Every character plays their part to perfection. Your first instinct is to say "I hate this president! He's weak, has no idea what he's doing", etc. And I think that is exactly the point. And this actor is playing the part excellently. I can't wait to see what happens with his "right hand man". It's almost looking like next week, the president is siding with him and having the Secret Service arrest Jack. Should be interesting!

Yea, well you see this one? This was my dream, my wish....and it didn't come true. So I'm taking it back, I'm taking them all back.

Have you guys seen this?

It's called the Jacktracker and shows where he is at any given moment during the show...pretty cool.

I also got a chance to see the demo for the video game... my friend was playing and I was impressed with how much like the show it is. Jack looks and sounds like himself and there's a cool interrogation part where you pick how to talk to the terrorist. Very cool.

I know! What is the deal with that? What possible "national security" reason would there be for wanting nerve gas in the hands of Russian terrorists?

Out of all the new characters I think Jean Smart as the first lady is by far the best...what is the deal with presidents' wives in this show? Can they ever be normal? And what is up with Chloe...did she take advantage of that traitor subordinate guy, or did he take advantage of her?

Sean Astin's character is kind of interesting too. At first, I thought he was going to be a typical douchebag, like everyone from district seems to be, but he actually seems to know what he's doing. Although considering the fact that he's apparently working in the best interest of everyone, I'm betting he either dies or is a mole.

Yeah...Sean Astin is obviously a pretty smart guy, knows what is going on. That is a welcome change of pace from the usual *division* people who are just uppety bureaucrats.

A friend sent me this earlier, I thought it was quite funny:

Some random facts about Jack Bauer:
1) If you wake up in the morning, it’s because Jack Bauer spared your life.
2) If Jack Bauer was in a room with Hitler, Stalin, and Nina Meyers, and he had a gun with 2 bullets, he’d shoot Nina twice.
3) Upon hearing that he was played by Kiefer Sutherland, Jack Bauer killed Sutherland. Jack Bauer gets played by no man.
4) Jack Bauer’s favorite color is severe terror alert red. His second favorite color is violet, but just because it sounds like violent.
5) Jack Bauer once forgot where he put his keys. He then spent the next half-hour torturing himself until he gave up the location of the keys.
6) Jack Bauer got Hellen Keller to talk.
7) Jack Bauer killed 93 people in just 4 days time. Wait, that is a real fact.
8) Jack Bauer was never addicted to heroin. Heroin was addicted to Jack Bauer.
9) 1.6 billion Chinese are angry with Jack Bauer. Sounds like a fair fight.
10) Superman wears Jack Bauer pajamas.
11) Jack Bauer doesn’t miss. If he didn’t hit you it’s because he was shooting at another terrorist twelve miles away.
12) Lets get one thing straight, the only reason you are conscious right now is because Jack Bauer does not feel like carrying you.
13) When you open a can of whoop-ass, Jack Bauer jumps out.
14) If Jack says “I just want to talk to him/her” and that him/her is you, well amigo, you’re f****ed.
15) Killing Jack Bauer doesn’t make him dead. It just makes him angry.
16) When life gave Jack Bauer lemons, he used them to kill terrorists. Jack Bauer f***ing hates lemonade.
17) In grade school, a little boy punched Kimberly Bauer, and Kimberly
ran home to tell her dad. That little boy’s name? Stephen Hawking.
18) Jack Bauer does not sleep. The only rest he needs is what he gets when he’s knocked out or temporarily killed.
19) No man has ever used the phrase, “Jack Bauer is a pussy” in a sentence and lived to tel-
20) In kindergarten, Jack Bauer killed a terrorist for Show and Tell.
21) Jack Bauer literally died for his country, and lived to tell about it.
22) As a child, Jack Bauer’s first words were “There’s no time!”
23) Jack Bauer’s family threw him a surprise birthday party when he was a child. Once.
24) If you are still conscious, it is because Jack Bauer doesn’t want to carry you.
25) If you get 7 stars on your wanted level on Grand Theft Auto, Jack Bauer comes after you. You don’t want to get 7 stars.
26) Guns dont kill people, Jack Bauer kills people.
27) Everytime Jack Bauer yells “NOW!” at the end of a sentence, a terrorist dies.
28) Jesus died and rose from the dead in 3 days. It took Jack Bauer less than an hour. And he’s done it twice.
29) If you send someone to kill Jack Bauer, the only thing you accomplish is supplying him a fresh set of weapons to kill you with.
30) Jack Bauer could get off the Lost island in 24 hours.
31) If Jack Bauer was gay, his name would be Chuck Norris.
32) After arguing over what was the better show, 24 or Walker Texas Ranger, Chuck Norris went to attack Jack Bauer with his trademark roundhouse kick. Jack Bauer caught it

That list is ridiculous. I love it. I have to send it to all my coworkers. Awesome.

There was an article in my tv guide about Sean Astin's mom--who is Patty Duke--what kind of crazy tv trivia is that?

And about the 24 game for Playstation, this site has some awesome info:

Can't wait until this thing drops.

I find it odder that his dad is John Astin, better known as television's Gomez Adams. Even stranger is that Gomez Adams was married to Patty Duke.
