If you've never watched Veronica Mars, you ought to give it a chance. I'd say it's one of the smartest and best written shows on network TV. It's infinitely more intriguing than the cookie-cutter crime dramas that plague the other networks.

the new line up is terrible
why or who would dedicate a full line up to WWE.. they gave up shows like reba and related to put stupid waste of time reality shows give me a break. the best thing on is prison break and there going to pla it for like 2 months then its going on hiatus like it did the first time instead of letting the season run right through so upset why did they take up 7th heaven if it already had its ten year run

The answer to both questions: ratings. 7th Heaven was one of the WB's highest rated shows. Wrestling always draws huge ratings. Week-in and week-out, the WWE gets the highest ratings on cable for its shows.

This is the new show I am probably most excited about. I was a huge West Wing fan and this looks to have a lot of its same "walking and talking" structure. I also like most of the cast members. The only problem is that it looks to be on at the same time as CSI: Miami, which is a huge guilty pleasure of mine!

Yeah, I'm excited about the new Aaron Sorkin. Hopefully everyone talks really fast and thinks he is the smartest person in the world.
I haven't watched anything on CBS in years. What a crappy network.
The Wire Fourth Season will by far be the best new show this season; nothing else will compare to that.

Aaron Sorkin already had a show about a televison network. It was called "Sports Night", and it was awesome. Unfortunatley, no one watched it. So to answer your question, no, it can't succeed.

But that was before Sorkin had a following. Fans of the West Wing may watch Sunset Strip simply because Sorkin is involved. Also Sunset Strip has Brad Whitford from West Wing and Matt Perry from Friends, who both have followings of their own.

I think this is right. I think the actors and the Sorkin hype might draw viewers. The question is, will they get it? Will they stick with it? Reminds me of a line from Family Guy, after a kid licks a toad: (rough approximation) "I finally get Aaron Sorkin's SportsNight: it's a comedy that's too good to be funny!"

I checked out NBC's Wednesday night comedy hour of 30 Rock and 20 Good Years. I thought 30 Rock was pretty decent. Tracy Morgan is quite hilarious, and it's a bit smarter then your average comedy. I don't know if it's Office-good, but I'll probably watch it again. 20 Good Years on the other hand, is quite lame. It's another bad take on the Odd Couple. This show is not long for this world.

These are the ones I've seen: Heroes - Not bad, but could fall by the wayside if it doesn't dump some dead weight characters and streamline its approach. Also needs to amp up the villain a little more. Studio 60 - Pretty good but a little smug. Certainly not a patch on the first series of West Wing but little is so I'll let that go. Could end up being good but Sorkin does need to tone down the smugness. Ugly Betty - Charming if a little too light but for what its doing, its really very good. Not for fans of The Sopranos etc. but totally worth it for its supersized heart! The Office - Now the finest sitcom on U.S television post-Arrested Development and getting better every week. The cast is pitch perfect without exception. Lost - Still freakin' awesome, addictive TV of the highest order. Needs to get moving again a little, remaining ponderous at times does not good TV make. But I'm not missing anything from this. Kidnapped - Already cancelled but slick, addictive quality with an excellent cast. Get HBO and watch The Wire though. Metacritic told you and you should follow. The best show on TV bar none.

My opinion on a lot of the new shows has changed and I've picked up some more.
Studio 60: I think I like the mission statement of the show a lot more than the actual show. I would love to see TV networks start giving the audience a little more credit for their intelligence, and maybe steal a few of the higher brow shows from the premium networks. I would love to see SNL hire new writers and try to get back to the level they were in the 70's, or at least the Hartman era. But agreeing with Aaron Sorkin's opinions about TV programming doesn't make the show any more entertaining. It just isn't funny enough to be what it's trying to be.
Friday Night Lights: It seems good, but shows that take themselves this seriously have a higher bar, and it doesn't reach it.
Heroes: Good premise, so-so execution. I'm just not drawn in by any of the individual storylines or characters, and I was never a comic book fan, so I can't appreciate all the nods.
Shark: I've decided this show is good, but not good enough to make me want to watch. Especially if the prosecutors are going to win every week. James Woods is good, the supporting cast is decent, the scripts are good. But, it's just nothing that exciting.
The Nine: This show I like. The characters aren't amazing, but they're good enough to make me care about them. I wish they'd show you a bit more of what happened in the bank every week, because that's more interesting than the aftermath. But this one I am at least watching.
Dexter: I want to watch this but don't get Showtime. The characterization, and the 6FU guy's performance are just incredible, and the writing and style are enthralling. I'm going to get the DVD when it comes out.
Kidnapped: The 6FU guy in this show is good too. I only watched the pilot, and I didn't get that into it because it was just a bit too cliche for my tastes. The incompetent, bumbling FBI that messes everything up, and the vigilante who is the only guy who knows what he's doing, combined with mediocre scripting killed it for me.
