I like Paul Thomas Anderson too. There Will Be Blood was an awesome movie. There's a cool article on the Filmmaker Magazine site where he talks about making the movie. Smiler

Tim Burton. Come on , now. You can do better than that.

How about Sam Raimi and Bryan Singer.

Hi. Newbie here - greetings!

Did Tim Burton do Beetlejuice too?

My favourite is Jonathan Glazer - he did Sexy Beast and that Jamiroquai video which was amazing!
Looking forward to seeing more of what he can do!

Hiroshi Teshigahara has rocketed into my ne plus ultra.

Rarely have I been so satisfied by a much anticipated film as I was by Woman of the Dunes.

Oh, could I feel as I have felt, or be what I have been,
Or weep as I could once have wept, o'er many a vanished scene;
As springs in deserts found seem sweet, all brackish though they be,
So, midst the withered waste of life, those tears would flow to me.

Yeh, she's a beauty. What can you say in the face of the photography alone....and some of the best acting i've ever seen.

This thread looks dead. Okay, let's add it up. After making some heroic, or at least cheeky, assumptions, to the effect that numbered lists are order of preference and unnumbered lists are not, and assigning an arbitrary 5 points for 1st, 4 for 2nd, etc., or 3 to everyone in an unranked list, and making with various other picky little rules, mathematical corollaries, hazarded guesses, and incantations, the 43 submitted ballots and related objects boil down into the following ranked list:

1. Kubrick
2. Spielberg (tie)
2. Tarantino (tie)
4. Scorsese
5. Lynch
6. Hitchock
7. Burton
8. Welles
9. Wilder
10. Coens (tie)
10. Godard (tie)

Are you saying that's a legit accumulation of our thread here? Or is that something else? If it's the former, I applaud you and will try to add some karma to you.
