Sometimes he's a little touch and go but The Professional was amazing, one of my all time top 10. What are your faves of his?

District B13

and it will be on dvd on sept 5th
i'm not very familiar with parkour (i guess it's like an intense freestyle walking) but the trailer leads me to believe it will probably be excellent to watch

Leon the Professional, obviously. La Femme Nikita, The Messenger, and Subway had their moments.

I still enjoyed Point of No Return (1993) starring Bridget Fonda and Harvey Keitel as the cleaner, better than the original La Femme Nikita (1991) due to the more compelling, action-packed, polished cinematography, and Keitel's much more sinister performance. Even the character development and relationship between Bridget Fonda and her handling as well as the ending was more convincing and eerie at the end.

I'm flabbergasted that anyone could think that the banal POINT OF NO RETURN was a better film than LA FEMME NIKITA. Different strokes for different folks I guess. There is a nice homage to NIKITA in PULP FICTION. Harvey Keitel's "cleaner" character is clearly modeled after the character Jean Reno played in NIKITA.

I also liked THE PROFESSIONAL, however the version we saw in the U.S. is a heavily censored version of the film that was shown in France. I've seen the original version of the film and there is more of a sexual relationship between the Reno and Portman characters.

DISTRICT B 13 is also well worth checking out, though now you will probably have to do it on DVD. I think it just came out or is about to come out. I was going to stay away from this one because I thought it was going to be another stupid chop socky flick, but the reviews were so good I said "what the hell" and took a chance and was surprised at how much I liked the film.

Hi everybody,

I have read a news that Luc Besson are planning to remake the movie “The Ice People” based on the René Barjavel’s book “La nuit du temps”.

I would like to place here a suggestion: the movie soundtrack must be the original songs Genesis album "Wind and Wuthering".

At the first time, I put this album on the turntable (this happened in 70’s) and I listened the same songs many times while reading the book because this is a story you deep inside and forget everything around.

It happens that, every time I listen to the songs, I remember the parts of the story. The story and the songs become associated if they would be done one to each other.

The curious is that it has a particular song for each part of the story. There are Elea’s song, the battle theme song and so on.

Some friends of mine have tried this experience and they have had the same feeling.

I hope that someone who knows Luc Besson or some of Genesis band member, read this message, think about or even appreciate the experience to read the book while listening to the songs or even talk to them to encourage Luc Bessom to include some album’s song in the movie sound track.

May be this can happen following the caos theory (HI).

Thank you for the oportunity and best regards,

Fred Guizini

According to this article, Besson's animated film Arthur and the Invisibles will be his last. He's giving up filmmaking to devote himself to "civic projects" in France.

Well maybe its time. ARTHUR & THE INVISIBLES hasn't opened in NYC yet, but its metacritics score is a whopping 27.

Yes, I noticed. Although, none of Besson's films have fared well with critics. Even fan favorites like La Femme Nakita, Leon (The Professional), and The Fifth Element don't rise higher than the mid-60s here at metacritic.

Regardless, while it appears he's giving up directing, he seems to show no signs of leaving the limelight altogether. According IMDB he's still involved in quite a few other films over the next year or two. Mostly producing credits.
