Just saw REAR WINDOW and ROPE, first full movies I've seen by him.

Seems like he was a very innovative and original filmmaker. He managed to make both movies take place in just one set without it getting too repetitive, and I like the way he uses the camera to hint at something the audience should notice.

Am I the only person who thinks The Birds is absolutely retarded? I can't understand for the life of me how its considered a classic. Is it really innovative for its time, or something? As is, I think it's ridiculous... the characters do the silliest things, and their motivations are left completely in the dark. Someone care to enlighten me?

Yes, you are the only person who thinks The Birds is retarded....I hope!! Smiler

It's all about the subconscious and hidden motivations; characters are playing out sub-conscious wishes, so at times it may seem silly and counter productive.

But there is so much more to the film than character delineation....yawn, too tired now...explain when fully conscious myself... Smiler
