Rank the director in yellow's work. Then name another director for someone else to rank. You must have seen all the director's films, however, or at least ten if they have more than ten. Starting with a common one...
Quentin Tarantino

I'm going to grade Tarantino's films based on his direction and script, plus give him an overall grade. A B is a very good grade, and is definitely a positive grade. I'm doing both script and direction since Tarantino writes his own scripts. So do some other directors, but you'll have to decide if you want to discuss their writing as well.
Reservoir Dogs Script:B Direction:B+ Pulp Fiction Script:A Direction: A Four Rooms (final episode) Script: D+ Direction:C- Jackie Brown Script:B- Direction:C+ Kill Bill Vol. 1 Script:B Direction: A- Kill Bill Vol. 2 Script:B Direction: B+ I'm going to throw in his second-best script, True Romance, which I'd rate an A-.
I think that overall that makes his average grade for scripts a B and direction a B+ (discounting Four Rooms because he's only responsible for one-fourth of that pile.)
I would love to see him tackle something different but I don't know if he has the cajones.
Stanley Kubrick
It would be nice if you have seen at least ten, but give it a shot if you can get close. You don't have to "rank" them the way I did. Discuss them the way you want.

I'm going to break my own rule since I haven't seen ten of his movies. (Sorry! DURHH! My name is Crash!)
1. A Clockwork Orange - I'm not sure what it says about my personality that this is the film that connected with me the most, but this movie is just a work of genius. Fine novel, too. 2. Dr. Strangelove 3. Full Metal Jacket 4. The Shining 5. 2001: A Space Odyssey - To be totally honest, I didn't get it. But still better than EWS. 6. Eyes Wide Shut - Dreck.
Anybody else that wants to rank Kubrick's work, feel free. You'll probably do a better job than I did. But for those who want to move on...
Woody Allen (Just ten would suffice. No need to go all the way.)

Is that a ... glitch in the matrix. Or possibly you've posted so much your numbers lapped around? Look you've still got karma levels. Wish I was a forum moderator *sniff*
Three of Mr. Kubrick's works have particularly inspired me: A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, and 2001: A Space Odyssey. After that, I would recommend Dr. Strangelove, Full Metal Jacket, Lolita, Eyes Wide Shut, Paths of Glory, Barry Lyndon, The Killing, and Spartacus in that order. Killer's Kiss and Fear and Desire (which I defy you to acquire) are said to be negligible works.

The Terminal- C+
As charming as it is light as air. It was a cute movie but that's it...no emotional depth.
Catch Me If You Can- B
Fun as hell. Spielberg at his "briskest". Just a good time at the movies
Minority Report- B+
I really enjoyed this one. Some say it was predictable and I agree, but it just oozed style. Another great time at the movies
AI- B-
I really wish Spielberg didnt add his obligatory "tug of the heart strings" coda to absolutely everything he makes. It is a shame that Kubrick didnt do this film himself because I have a feeling it wouldve been one of his best. Even with the Spielberg induced gloss the movie is truly fascinating and it's such a tortured imperfect tone that it is impossible to look away.
Saving Private Ryan- A+
Best. War. Movie. Ever. I LOVED this film and think its up there with Spielberg's best.
The Lost World- C- It wasnt that bad but it was a dissapointing sequel to one of cinematic's most "adrenalized" films.
Schindler's List- A++
Spielbergs best. Hands down. One of the best films of all time and i cant say enough good things about it.
Jurassic Park- B+
Damn fun film. Just a huge rush to watch this one.
Hook- D
Overblown crap. See "Peter Pan" or "Finding Neverland" for a better spin on this classic tale.
ET- B-
This one's severely overrated. I dont care HOW many hearts this little alien touched this movie ISNT THAT GOOD. Itll warm your heart and all but so did "Patch Adams" and no ones lauding THAT film...
Raiders of the Lost Ark- A-
This didnt capture my imagination quite as much as it did everyone elses but it's still good---still good...
Jaws- A+
Spielberg's greatest "popcorn flick". Everything about this one is amazing and in no way shape or form is this overrated...

I can't believe Radio Days is in your top ten. What fun is Woody Allen with heart?

I've seen his five feature films, and I'm including the two earliest in which he shared directorial credit with Marc Caro, although I believe Jeunet was more of the actual director while Caro was more of the "art director". My overall opinion of him is that he always fills his screen with cinematic trickery and fast-paced narration, editing and dialogue. Sometimes, I feel like he's got ADHD, and he's made me the pinball inside his game. I do appreciate his originality, wit and dark humor.
Amelie: B+ A charming, humorous and original romance.
A Very Long Engagement: B A much-darker version of the above, combined with a harrowing depiction of war in the trenches and a whack murder mystery.
Delicatessan: B- A post-apocalyptic cannibal comedy which contains many of Jeunet's trademark themes and visual motifs.
City of Lost Children: C+ Probably the weirdest of his films (and that's saying a lot), this sci-fi/fantasy has to be seen to be believed (understanding it is another story.) This may be the only film where he actually didn't feel the need to overstuff every scene.
Alien Resurrection: C+ Pointless film which starts out blah but eventually turns reasonably-entertaining because of the director's penchant for the bizarre.
If you enjoy Jeunet, you could probably add a grade to each of mine. If you don't like any of these, you might consider dropping them a grade. But these are MY grades.
Alfred Hitchcock

I haven't seen all of Hitch's films so someone can add to this, but here are my grades anyway:
Vertigo: A+ A haunting and original often underrated masterpiece with James Stewart anf Hitchcock at their very best.
Psycho: A+ Well, what can I say? Anthony Perkins is brilliant, all the cast is. And Hitchcock proves himself to be the Master of suspense.
North By Northwest: B+ A witty and very enjoyable action film with Cary Grant on top form and wittier than ever. Maybe Hitch's funniest?
The Birds: A An enigmatic and haunting thriller masterpiece. It's extremely weird and Hitchcock's cameo rules!
Marnie: B Perhaps Hitch's last great film. Sean Connery and Tippi Hidren are both great and it's all very strange.
The Man Who Knew Too Much (old one): C+ A good film but seems a bit flawed at times. The next version, for me, is better. Still, Peter Lorre rules in this version.
To Catch A Thief: C+ I dunno, for some reason I never really warmed up to that film. It's just a bit too lighthearted I think. Hitch's cameo is hilarious though.
The Lodger (very old, silent one): C I really like that one, it's just too bad the ending is so...un-Hitchcock!
I think that's all the ones I've seen from The Master.

I actually consider myself a big fan of the Coens. A B from me is an A+ from most people. I'd say their grades stack up with Tarantino, and I'm a fan of his. Anyhow, E,or somebody, let's go with Roman Polanski, no matter how many you've seen. I've seen 14 of his 16 features.
