Talk show host Mike Douglas dead at 81The article does a good job of touching on the high points, especially the week with John and Yoko, but man, Mike had
everybody on the show at one time or another. Just the list of musicians included The Animals, Louis Armstrong, Chet Atkins, Blondie, The Boomtown Rats, The Box Tops, Victor Borge, James Brown, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, Chick Corea, The Delfonics, ELO, Duke Ellington, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Astrud Gilberto, Lionel Hampton, Billy Joel, Elton John, The Kinks, KISS...you get the idea.
For a self-described "square" he didn't leave many cultural stones unturned. It's a shame all those great performances and interviews are largely sitting in a vault somewhere.
