I went through a period of about four years when I couldn't afford TV-- so I didn't watch it (I would walk down to the neighborhood bar to watch sports). I don't think I missed much. Now, however, I'm hooked on a number of good shows. TV is much better now than it has been at any other point in my lifetime-- well, now that the Sopranos are done, maybe not.

What if Obama gets into White House and turns out to be some crazy muslim terrorist? What do we do then? We'll be pretty screwed. It could happen." -- by some fucking nutjob

I'm not a TV junkie by any means, especially in the summer when my viewing is pretty much limited to Major League Baseball.

But, I think you're correct. There are some truly terrific shows on television now. I'd take Lost, Heroes, 24 and Rescue Me over the majority of feature films released.

Baseball's the boring season, if you ask me. And there's no new TV shows like Lost or BSG to keep me entertained otherwise... I miss college football, too.

I'd agree with you on Lost. It took my friend two and a half years to get me to watch that show. He finally sat me down to watch the pilot and I got hooked.

On another note, I love the idea of discovering a show long after it has ended so I can watch the whole series on DVD. I purposely avoided shows like The Sopranos and the Wire all these years, and now I can watch the whole thing at my own pace on high quality DVDs.
