anyone else? I am curious about this. There never seems to be enough time in my day and I am glad I do not glue myself to the tube any longer. There are programs I miss, but my days and nights are plenty full.

AAAArrrrghhh!!! Mad

In as friendly a tone as I can muster rockthief, Wink, tv is a medium like any other, like radio, the web etc. TV is not the problem. Content is.

So many people use tv as a scapegoat for societal ills. It gave us the Simpsons....'nuff said.

Have a nice day. see you next Bat time, same Bat channel. Smiler

Reality TV crossed with The "World's Funniest Videos"?

Still pretty subjective, but some good stuff where you least expect it.

if we didn't have television, we wouldn't have six feet under, and the world would be a worse place as a result.

excellent point sinistre.

If we didn't have television, and therefore no Sesame Street, I would never have learned of Snuffle-up-agus's. Oooh...bird..... Razzer

Nader's come out recently blasting Sesame Street for taking sponsorship from McDonalds and Discovery Zone. He did a special for them in '88 though! How funny I'd find it to see.

sheesh, I forgot I started this topic.

I found watching television to be mesmerizing and ended up watching the thing when projects, books, music, and whatall languished. There are some great things on the tube, but not enough for me to begin watching it anew.

I think there are great things and bad things about every medium... I watch and enjoy several TV shows but I'll gladly admit that 90% of the stuff on there is simple white noise, stuff to fill up the empty part of your life but still leaves you hollow...

I miss watching the tube, but I know I will get caught up in it again so I will rent videos of favorite shows and watch those.s I think it is time for a The Sopranos marathon.

I watch The Simpsons and that's it. Often I catch old tv shows on dvd, like Twin Peaks, Dark Shadows, Hawaii 5-0. If it weren't for watching dvds, my tv would be covered with dust.
