i am at the part of the game where i fight this monster with full armor on it i get to the point with lights comeing out the the cercile a bove the head do a chain grab but nothing happens so close but so far away

After you get the circle above his head and do the chain grab he is temporarily dazed, while he is like this you need to run up the stairs behind you hit him with the large arrow catapult thing, this will loosen or remove some of his armor - you have to do it three times I believe to remove all his armor - the you have to fight him some more to kill him -- its a lot of work

fighting this guy in god mode is fantasticly stressful
