2 Words: Major Disappoinment...

Well, the premise wasn't all that great. Can you reignite the sun? Is there any possible way for this to be a feasible plan? The cast doesn't seem to be all that great, with the exception of Cillian Murphy. Is he what drew you to it? I caught the trailer & it didn't really capture my attention. Did it at least have as much action as the trailer implied?

Well, my orang-u-tan wrestler, I actually was very excited to see this for a few reasons:

a) Alex Garland wrote the script, and he did a great job with 28 Days Later.
b) Danny Boyle directing? Good work from him in the past.
c) I lurrrve metaphysical sci-fi. eg. 2001; Solaris and this promised to be in that tradition.

BUT, when I read an interview with Boyle shortly before release, he was saying how much he doesn't like S/F, and that really worried me.
And so, the movie itself is not what you would be looking for monkey magic!!!
barely any action at all. Very slow, little plot.

The film is not really about re-igniting the sun. It's about what happens to men and women trapped in space with a huge responsibility and how that affects them.
If you're looking for a roller coaster of CGI and guns blazing, look elsewhere my simian overlord!!

Way too ambitious a project. There was so much morality as well as action thrills that made the entire movie overly chaotic. There was lots of action, perhaps too much and way to derivative, overdone with subplots. Great visuals, great sound effects, effective sound track. But the implausibility starts to build up that by the end its difficult to enjoy the movie. The final scene, however, is nice.

I rented this one and made it about halfway through before dozing off. I love space movies, but this one wasn't doing much for me. All of those scientists, doing the most important mission in man-kinds history and not one of them looks a day over 30? And they would even consider straying from their mission? I'll finish it tonight and maybe change my response tomorrow.
