I had heard that there was going to be a movie adaptation of Philip K. Dick's novel "A Scanner Darkly". This is my favorite novel by one of my two favorite authors, a fantastic story about a cop who goes undercover as a drug dealer. The catch is that the drug he is dealing(and becoming addicted to)has the unfortunate side effect of creating multiple personalities. In effect, he begins to narc on himself! I had always thought that this could be turned into an amazing movie if handled with care for the original book, and by a younger director without any major studio restraints. Perhaps someone like Darren Aronofsky? Now I have heard the worst possible news that I could imagine, the story has been optioned and is set to star my least favorite "actor" of all time - the dreadful Keanu Reeves! Oh, the horror! Does anyone else have any info or opinions on this, or any other Philip K. Dick adaptations or Keanu bashing, here's the place!
