When LOTR turned out to be such an enormous hit I remember hearing that the Narnia project was back on the fast track. Despite a great deal of regard for C.S. Lewis, I've never been a big fan of the Naria books, but I still thought it seemed more a crass attempt to cash in rather than the labor of love Peter Jackson created.

Happily, this bit of video though certainly seems to indicate I'm very wrong. That looks very, very good.

Great link, boomerang!

I remember almost 10 years ago renting and watching the old Narnia TV movies from the 80's. I remember them being low budget with no CG of course and they weren't very good.

But this as both LT and boomerang said, does look very good. Hopefully it will not be centered towards only younger children.

The Weta models look fabulous! The Minotaur and Cyclops look great, hopefully Sony's CGI will be as good as Weta's "real" effects. This should be a perfect antidote to the bland and inoffensive Harry Potter phenomenon. C.S. Lewis imbued his own passionate, religious beliefs into his books, and they left quite an impression on most young readers. The movie will have to be spectacular to avoid being a disappointment for me though, same as LOTR was, it must live up to the source material.

Based on the featurette and everything, I don't think this movie is going to be geared toward kids (how the BBC movie was). Like you said, the book left a strong impression on all young readers and based on what I've seen, I really think its going to live up to our expectations!! They are paying attention to every single detail and I think that's what makes the difference between a good movie and a great one.

I agree, you can never have enough LOTR Smiler I think CS Lewis does deserve more recognition for his work. And I'll be honest, the BBC movies do not do his books justice!

Has anyone seen these pics from a Czech paper or something. I can't read the text, but the pics look pretty cool! I saw a link to them on another movie site...

Thanks for posting - you would think I would have noticed that English link Wink I knew that a lot of the movie was being filmed in New Zealand but I didn't realize that some of the scenes are shot in Prague and other parts of Europe. The more I read about this movie and all the scenery and costumes, the more excited I get for December 05!
