I was very thrilled that Miss Page won the Independent's Spirit Award last night for Best Female Lead. Her movie Juno also won for Best Film and Diablo Cody won for Best First Screenplay. I know that Julie Christie will most likely win the Academy Award for Best Actress tonight but I am very happy for Ellen Page who has to fight off Producers and Directors that are wanting her to make their movies. She has 2 movies in the can and signed contracts for 3 more. In my opinion she will be the most sort after actress of 2008.

I totally agree, she was great in Juno and even won that Spirit Award. She's sooo young too and based on Juno's success will probably be one of the most talked about actresses. I can't wait for Smart People! Go Ellen Page!!!

I am afraid that this may be a case where this will be her defining role and nothing after will match the success she had with Juno. There is no doubt she is talented, but I would credit her success in Juno to good casting versus anything else. If you saw her on SNL, you would have seen her limitations as an actress. Of course, I hope I am wrong because I do think that she is talented and would be great in the right roles.

Keep in mind that the girl is only 21 years old and a relative newbie in film. I don't think she's done enough work to either write her off or call her the best actress ever. She was good in Juno and one of the few bright spots in the achingly dull X-Men 3, so for now, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.

Ellen Page is amazing! I agree one of the best actresses out there today. Just a FYI she has more than two movies in the can. She was in Mouth to Mouth, Tracey Fragments, Hard Candy, X-Men, Smart People, Juno, An American Crime just to name a few more. Totally agree with you though she has so much talent. My favorite actress is def Ellen Page.

I'm sorry, when I stated (in my original post) "she has 2 movies in the can" I meant she is in two movies that did not get released in the movie-houses at the time I wrote that post. Maybe I used the wrong expression or phrase since I am not in the movie-making business. As of this post "Smart People" was released (in fact she made this movie before "Juno") and even though it was not a box-office smash it did get very good reviews and Ellen Page got great reviews. Thanks for your reply.
