He has had an interesting career that stretches back at least to the early 1970s when he was in John Frankenheimer's ICEMAN COMETH. Throughout the 1970s he was in interesting films like STAY HUNGRY, HEARTS OF THE WEST, THE LAST AMERICAN HERO (released on DVD this week), BAD COMPANY, WINTER KILLS, CUTTER & BONE/CUTTER'S WAY and THUNDERBOLT & LIGHTFOOT, among others.

He's built on his early work with films like SEE YOU IN THE MORNING, THE FISHER KING and AGAINST ALL ODDS.

His most recent film was SEA BISCUIT, an intelligent film released in mid-summer, which seems like an oxymoron.

He's had an interesting career, mixing the off beat in with the big budget film. He has also had remarkable staying power.

While he's a good dramatic actor I think his best performance was in "The Big Lebowski," personally. Other favorites not mentioned: "The Last Picture Show," "Fearless."
