Favorite "Adam Sandler Movie", Billy Madison. Favorite Adam Sandler performance, Punch Drunk Love. You gotta love pretty much all his other movies though...Waterboy, Wedding Singer Happy Gilmore, 50 First Dates, all hilarious.

Yea, well you see this one? This was my dream, my wish....and it didn't come true. So I'm taking it back, I'm taking them all back. -Face
Okay, this is an old thead but lets start it up again. I think it is a tie between "Happy Gilmore" and "Billy Madison" those are both timeless classics. I disliked "50 First Dates". It wasn't Sandler's best performance, I think that is mostly due to the fact that he did not play a crazy character. "The Waterboy" was very funny and also very good but not as good as some of his othe rmovies. "Anger Management" was good and worth seeing but, Sandler isn't really what made the movie fun, it also had a lot to do with his supporting cast. Another one that hasn't been mentioned yet, "Mr. Deeds" I liked very much, not his best movie but an entertaining.

There is a pretty fascinating deconstruction of Adam Sandler and his carreer and upcoming film "Spanglish" in this month's "Premiere". It's definately worth checking out...
"Favorite Adam Sandler Movie" is an oxymoron. Few people have less talent. His only good films were good because of the scripts. Any dope could act them as well.

Obviously, somebody thinks he's talented if he keeps getting these good roles. I loved him in Billy Madison and Happy Gilmore - esp the Bob Barker ass-kicking scene!

I'd like to hear who you think would better fit the roles of Billy Madison, Bobby Boutche, or Happy Gilmore Boomerang. I can't think of anyone who could have better fit in any of those movies. And really the scripts are not what makes Sandler's movies, they are usually dumb, but with the Sandler they are very enjoyable.

I agree. I cant think of anyone who would fit his characters better than he does. I, personally dont like him that much. His movies just get annoying to me after a while and I really dont think he is that good of an actor. I liked him mostly in the waterboy but in all his other stuff he was the exact same charactor, himself.

E.M watch "The Waterboy", "Happy Gillmore" and "50 First Dates" and tell me he plays himself. Granted I didn't really enjoy "50 First Dates" it was still a different kind of acting.

ive seen everyone of his movies except punch drunk love and 50 first dates. I said the exception of the waterboy. I just liked him that, I dont think he acted exceptionally in that either. He may act slightly different in his other movies, but he is just either more stupid, more smart, more idiotic or anything. I understand why many people like him because I used to like him, but really can you call him a good actor. I will be absolutely shocked if he ever wins best actor.

In comedy you don't necessarily have to be a good actor to be funny. Look at Chris Farley (R.I.P.) he was extremely funny but really didn't have much acting talent.

Yeah, E, thanks for reminding me that Sandler will be in James L. Brooks' "Spanglish". Brooks is a pretty-darned-good scriptwriter and a quirky director, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a "non-oxymoronic" performance by Mr. Sandler. Don't kill me, E, since I AM listening to "Kingdom Come" by Elliott Smith right now, but I still like "The Wedding Singer" more than "Punch-Drunk Love." I DO have a close friend whose life situation is very similar to his character in "Punch-Drunk Love", so we'll probably watch that this weekend (my family is visiting the in-laws to help out with a Chez Noel program.) All my friends are in love with Emily Watson too!

The Wedding Singer makes me cry but I'm a big Paul Thomas Anderson fan so Punch Drunk Love all the way. That's about the only Sandler role that ever had any real gravity (excluding the court room scene in the underrated Big Daddy).

Although I suspect Adam Sandler the human being is a pretty decent sort, his moronic, mugging, over the top comic persona is nothing short of vomit inducing.
The trailers for Spanglish give one hope he has left the idiot doofus schtick behind him.
i think he's trying to get out of his stereotype. I haven't heard much about spanglish, but it looks like it could be decent - more of a serious-grown-up-dad character for Sandler.
