I recently saw Bill Murray in a film called Mad Dog and Glory, with De Niro and Uma Thurman, and I thought he was excellent in it. He wasn't particularly funny because he was playing a more serious part but I was impressed because he really does very well next to a great actor like De Niro! Sometimes comedian have trouble being next to great actors (Eddie Murphy and De Niro in showtime...) but Bill doesn't have that problem.
I love Billy Murray! I think I own most of his movies on DVD. I can't wait to see Life Aquatic. The trailers look hilarious! I saw it this weekend and everyone in the theater was cracking up. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out...
After reading this discussion it has suddenly dawned on me that Bill Murray rules quite a bit more than I previously gave hime credit for, its like I can never remember all the things that I've liked him in. Where is his oscar...I'm hoping that the academy gives it to him this year for broken flowers (which admittingly I've yet to see).

As much as I like Bill Murray, I must say he hasn't been in very many good movies and I'll be hard pressed to come up with five:
1) LOST IN TRANSLATION. (a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned and Bill Murray's finest moment on celluloid)
2) RUSHMORE. Wes Anderson is the director and Jason Schwartzman is the star of the film.
3) GROUNDHOG DAY. I film I liked the second time I saw it more than the first time 'round.
I'm hard pressed to come up with more.
4) TOOTSIE. A supporting role for Murray, I loved this film on original release but last time I saw it -- back in the nineties -- I didn't think the film held up all that well.
5) GHOSTBUSTERS. I had to name something so it might as well been this. A little to silly, but watchable.
