For me it would be Geoffroy Rush and Clive Owen. Both good actors have done pretty good in rolls. I say Geoffroy Rush is a more well rounded actor than Clive Owen. But both in their own right. Donna A.

Philip Seymour-Hoffmann and Bill Murray...they can never be over-rated.

I dont think Brad Pitt is that good, just a male superstar who girls love and is slightly over-appreciated. Tom Cruise is good in my opinion but is slightly over-rated and "over-appreciated." Kristen Dunst, well I dont know, I havent seen her in enough movies to judge her. In spiderman, she was alright, as well as in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. But I think she is "appreciated by the public fittingly. Those are just my opinions. Its hard that some of these actors that you listed could be under-appreciated because they are the biggest Hollywood stars that the public loves already. Remember this topic really isnt for who is good or not, it is for who is appreciated or liked by the pulic and who is not and if you agree with ect.

But Elijah, your post reaffirms that the general public is blinded by these actors bankability and does not see that they're perfectly respected actors. Now we can disagree about their talent (especially Pitt's because he's the weakest of the bunch) but the fact that many just think their pretty boy's/and girl who rely on their looks are, in my opinion, dead wrong.

See "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". Maybe my love for the film made everybody's performance just that much better but I do think Dunst has potential...
{edit}Eternal Sunshine was cool but her character in is was somewhat unneccesary or over-developed. I dispise Spiderman though. I still say her best work was Interview With The Vampire (edit} I have a lot of respect for Pitt. He has played so many different, cool characters so well over the years: the crazy guy in 12 Monkeys, Tyler Durden, Micky the boxer in Snatch. The Mexican was complete bollocks though. Julia Roberts is rediculously one-dimensional.

No, man. All I'm saying is that there isnt much clarification except that her role in "ESOTM" has eclipsed everything she's ever done and brought a level of potential to her career as an actress...that's it...and see the movie if you havent!!

OK, well this is where we disagree.
EDIT: And, for the record I thought "Spiderman" (the second one) was THE best superhero movie to date and one of the best films this year...
We were posting at the same time...ring around the posty! I'm quite analytical so I need my favs to take rolls with real gravity in them. For me, her role as a child vamp had more of an identifiable stain in it. Eternal was the most intelligent character she's played yet, that's for sure. I've still yet to see her do anything really remarkable though (and I don't mean playing a handicap to gat an Oscar). Edit: Don't get me wrong though. I think she did a good job in ESOTSM but I felt her over-exposure in it detracted from the Carry/Winslet relationship.

I was saying that I think differently from the general public. I consider myself to have different opinions from the rest of the public. I see Brad Pitt as a pretty boy but I dont think that the rest of the public may. I respect Tom Cruise and Kristen Dunst is alright. Ive only seen Brad Pitt in 4 or so movies, so maybe I've picked the wrong ones but he seems always the same.
