I think Jack Black is a good actor, at least he can be, but not a great actor in my opinion. He has been in a lot of movies that I think were very bad. I also voted for school of rock, becauseI think that was the one movie where he acted somewhat different from the rest. Also, it was well done, and not only funny, but an overall good movie with a good concept.

Jack Black is AMAZING! He is a GREAT comedic actor that has super high star potential but is underused to the point of being a crime! "Oramge County", "High Fidelity", and "School of Rock" are all wonderful movies in their own right, but I, too, voted for "School of Rock". I would not be ranting and raving about the brilliance of Jack Black if it wasnt for Tenacious D!!!
I like Jack Black. But from what I've seen, he's a good actor, but nothing that great. I definatly had to go with "School of Rock" but he was good in "Shallow Hal" as well as "Orange County." He's still young and I'm sure he certainly has potential. I also loved "The Cable Guy" and "Mars Attacks" although his roles in both were very small.
Musically, he's even better. I love Tenacious D, especially the way they can make a good song, that's really funny too.
I can't wait for "King Kong." Hopefully it will be great.

Black is either the man that fills a SPECIAL character in a film, or is directly written for... I cannot see him acting anything other than the goofy man.
Just curious...Did you happen to catch "School of Rock?",which was chosen as his best work by everybody on this thread. He was not the "Special" character and was somewhat goofy, but also had heart.

Right, I like Black, but could you have seen anyone else in that role? In my humble opinion, no. I think the part in the movie was somewhat based around him. So many of the parts that worked, wouldn't have without him... standard Black with a hint of heart. Look, hes Tenacious, and theres no helping it
Well put, Z...I can't wait until King-Kong. And I know that you have already gotten a couple of links from me here is another. Its a link to the Tenacious D thread that I started on the forum.

A little bit of Jack Black goes a long way. I haven't seen all of the aforementioned performances, but of those I've seen I think was terrific in a supporting role in a *great* film HIGH FIDELITY. That film really nailed what it is like in music stores.
He recently had a big role in KING KONG, but I wasn't all that crazy about that film.
Black also was ok in a film not mentioned, THE LIFE OF JESUS, a film I wasn't all that crazy about.
