Slacker First Class Posted 27 January 2009 03:42 PM Meryl is amazing, but i really like sandra bullock i feel she is a bit understated!
I don't know what you mean by "understated" though it usually means that an actor performs without a lot of exaggeration or dramatic flair. I'm almost wondering if you meant "under-rated." Regardless, personally for me there's something appealing about Sandra Bullock who really has not been consider a heavy-weight, A-List Superstar by any means. Yet I've enjoyed many of the shows that she's starred in.
Love Potion No. 9 (1992), over 16 years ago in which she experienced a love potion that brought out from behind her naive scientific demeanor her more gorgeous side.
Demolition Man (1993), where she was provided with a terrific script that contains what for me was perhaps the best example of sci-fi word creativity of any movie I've seen where she played a futurist cop who lived in a society whose language became almost a transformed, English commercialized speech.
Speed (1994) the blockbuster action thriller.
There were a lot more I won't mention here, but her movies are popular, entertaining, somewhat like a modern day Doris Day starlet.
Crash (2004) is probably the closest she's come to serious, dramatic acting and where she did a great job.
What I like about Sandra Bullock is I can usually depend on her to perform in a movie that I can just watch with laughter, fun, and enjoyment...something that's just for play sake. Nowadays, with today's terrible world, her presence in her movies is really worth the money.

Reese Witherspoon is my favorite actress... she can play such diverse roles... some of my favorites are Elle in Legally Blonde and June in Walk The Line!

Reese Witherspoon was one of the best presenters at the 2008 Oscars this past month. She was entertaining and relaxed.

You're right...I guess I enjoy her more for her potential than her career. I think she's enigmatic and would like to see her obtain more roles like All the Real Girls and Flakes, rather than Yes Man and The Happening.

How would you compare Zooey to her older sister Emily, who stars in the television series Bones?

People tell me I would like that show, but I can't get into it.
Hm! What is the problem with Bones for you?
The nature of the series? Television in general? The characters? The acting? The plots?
What is it that you like? Your answers might be revealing as to the inclination towards Emily and/or Zooey as well as other actresses.

I don't understand which one of those is the actual question. I watched an episode and didn't care to tune in to see what David Boreanuz was up to next. Same with csi, the mentalist and all of the other similar shows.
As for Emily, as far as I know she hasn't been in anything besides Bones and Boogeyman (not to far from The Happening).
As for Zooey, I'm looking forward to 500 Days of Summer and Gigantic.

I appreciate your response. You have a consistent viewing pattern. Though I wonder what you do like to watch.

MeandJulio Slacker First Class Posted 20 March 2009 09:30 AM Hide Post Friday Night Lights, The Office, 30 Rock, 24.
Loved Extras, loved the West Wing, loved Freaks and Geeks.
You and I definitely have very different tastes in what we like to watch. I used to watch 24, I watched it for the first three or four seasons, but it became just too emotionally draining and intense for me. I didn't need so much unending drama every week with little much in the way of resolution. As for the other television series, none of them really ever interested me. Though your selection of West Wing seems particularly commendable. At the point in my life right now, I am more into entertainment, lighter fair that still has some emotional catharsis, but of a good almost always winning over bad ending, but not without some sacrifice. So what I need is comedy with a good dose of drama (balance).

laurengraham111 Slacker Posted 25 March 2009 12:11 AM Hide Post i like Rene Liu, she is a chinese actress.
You sure selected an obscure actress whose films don't appear to have had much distribution in the United States nor recognized much outside of Asia. It's going to be difficult for many other people to be able to appreciate your selection. Well, enjoy your special opportunity to experience someone you like, but without many of us being able to go along for the ride.
