I'm very sad, LT. These things happen far too often, but that's the nature of our beast. She was born Anna Maria Italiano, which is a great name, but I guess not so great if you wanted to make a name playing non-ethnic roles.
I just watched her in
The Raid, a western from 1954, and I'm remembering how many westerns, adventures and thrillers she was in in the '50s. This is a cliché, but I highly recommend
The Miracle Worker, for which she deservedly won a Best Actress Oscar playing Helen Keller's teacher, Annie Sullivan. You guys would love that film and that performance. It's a very stark, very beautiful film with great early Arthur Penn direction.
The Graduate has passed into legend, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't watch it every chance you get.
She will be missed, as are all the bright stars, but at least we still have the stuff that dreams are made of to help us relive their glory. R.I.P.
