Who are your most favorite movie characters of all time? Why?

Henry Jones Sr./ Sean Connery/ 'Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade'- A perfect match for Indy, using James Bond, the Godfather of all action movies. It was played perfectly by Sean Connery.

Elwood P. Dowd/ Jimmy Stewart/ 'Harvey'- Such a good natured character. He reminds me of how people should act all the time.

Hannibal Lecter/ Anthony Hopkins/ 'Silence of the Lambs'- Showed us how likeable a villain really could be.

My favorite characters have to include the triptych in "Jaws" of Chief Brody, Hooper and Quint. Brody (Roy Scheider) is a very human character with his fear of the water, which he overcomes to show how a true hero behaves. Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) is smart and rich, which pisses off grizzled, macho shark hunter Quint (Robert Shaw), who calls him a "city boy counting money all his life." Hooper counters that he doesn't "need any working-class hero crap." They represent two different sides of human nature, but of course in the wonderful "share your scars" scene, they all become dear (at least, drunk) friends. Of course, at this point, they're not really sure if any of them will survive. The thing I really like about all three characters is their humor.

The most flamboyant character who remains completely human has to be "Elmer Gantry" (Burt Lancaster). He has huge appetites for women, booze and money, but deep down, he's also a deeply-spiritual (and deeply-flawed) man. He really wants to help people find the way, even if he's usually too distracted by "the way of all flesh" to actually save his own. Gantry, being a good salesman, uses his talent to sell religion, but also being a good (at least, part-time) Christian, he tries to help people. He also has a great sense of humor, at least if he's not taking advantage of you. I don't want to get off-topic, but I'll take Gantry's brand of "faith" over that of any un-named politicians out there.

Hannibal Was good. I am going to add Tom Hanks as Forest Gump, David Spade as Joe Dirt, Mike Myers as Shrek, and Rodney Dangerfield in Back to School.

I like the dangerous loner type characters the best. So for me it's a toss up between DeNiro in "Taxi Driver", John Wayne in "The Searchers" and Alan Ladd in "Shane"

Though Scarlett O'Hara may be the most complete character I've seen and certainly one of the funnest to examine and study.

For villains I really like the complexity of John Huston in "Chinatown" and Judith Anderson in "Rebecca"

Good call on those ones! I'm guessing you're a fan of Tim Burton films as well?

Favourite movie character? Ludo from Labyrinth.

I am going to have to say that Robin Williams as Genie in Aladin is one of his best performances ever, this really needs to be mentioned.
