Liar Liar did nothing to me. It was good for a few laughs, but no where near the hillarity I expected.
Dumb and Dumber was hillarious, but because of the Farreley's sharp writing---not Carrey.
Me, Myself , and Irene is unseen by me and, hopefully, it shall remain that way (I dont really like the concept).
Bruce Almighty----after all the hype and box office returns----I was dissapointed with. I dont know what I thought it was going to be, but I dont think I laughed once. I thought it was amusing. Sort of clever, but thats it.
So whats left? Carrey's dramas, which I find considerably more fulfilling than his comedic work.
Truman Show I havent seen for several years. But, if memory serves, I found it to be kind-of-wonderful.
Majestic was a bit too tearjerky. I felt as though the director was trying to yank each tear out of my eyelid. I didnt really like that feeling.
But, Man on the Moon I loved. I didnt know anything about Andy Kauffmaun. Didnt know he was dead. So I did become a little choked up, which happens very rarely.
So, I suppose, my vote shall go towards Man on the Moon!!
I am going to go with Ace Ventura:Pet Detective. He was at his comedic peak and I still get some laughs out of it whereas a lot of his other films have become stale to me. The Truman Show was quite a good movie as well, not as funny, but will stand the test of time.
"If it were beneficial, their father would produce children already circumcised from their mother. Rather, the true circumcision in spirit has become profitable in every respect." -Jesus, from the Gospel Of Thomas
Well, being a humongous Jim Carrey fan myself, I would have to say that my favourite Jim Carrey films are, in that order: 1/ The Truman Show 2/ Dumb and Dumber 3/ The Cable Guy (don't ask me why, I just don't know)
Liar Liar was fun and often hilarious but not a good film. Me, Myself and Irene was a vulgar and weak film but Jim still managed to be great in it. Bruce Almighty was ok but not Jim's finest moment. Eternal Sunshine is, after the Truman Show, Jim's best film and I think it rules. Ace Ventura 1 and 2 were both original and equally hilarious. The Mask was sssssssssssssmokin'!!! Man on the Moon was surprisingly very good and Jim was outstanding. The Grinch was an uneven and confused film but the Grinch was groovy! The Majestic was, hem, not THAT bad...well, yeah, it was, but Jim was good. Earth Girls Are Easy was weird and very likeable. Dumb and Dumber was dumb and hilarious and Jim and Daniels were both geniuses. The Cable guy was dark but wonderful Batman Forever was entertaining and The riddler was awesome!!!!
Man on the Moon is where Jim Carrey truly showed us that he had a real talent for acting. The whole rubberface hyperactive Jim was getting old when I went to go see this movie, and when I saw him transform himself into Andy Kaufman, I was dumbfounded. I love seeing actors break their mold, like Sandler did with Punch Drunk Love. This is the performance of Jim's career to date.

And that's the way the cookie crumbles!
Well, it seems to me you just like every damn thing this man does. The problem I have with Jim Carrey's dramatic acting is that he ALWAYS ALWAYS overacts. "Majestic" prime example. Horrible film. Mediocre performance. Hes not as bad as, say, Robin Williams but his performances arent exactly Oscar-worthy (except "Man on the Moon").
He doesn't always overact!!! Does he overact in Eternal Sunshine? No. Does he overact in the Truman show? No. Jim carrey is a living cartoon and that's what's great about his performances!!
The reason why I think you believe he always overacts is because he mostly plays guys to whom incredible things happen! He's very dramatic, that's why he's funny!!! In Bruce Almighty or Liar Liar for example he makes a big deal of everything and that's because the characters he plays in those movies are faced with some pretty crazy situations!
He's performance in The Majestic wasn't exactly oscar-worthy but "mediocre" is a bit harsh! (But I agree, the film sucked).
The only Jim Carrey oscar-worthy performances are The Man On The Moon and the Truman Show (and possibly Eternal sunshine).
He's the funniest guy around (and for me, EVER) and, by the way, Robin Williams isn't a bad actor!!!!
Favorite Jim Carrey movie has to be Man on the Moon. As Jakal said, his performance was astounding and a thrill to watch. I think if Andy Kaufman were alive to see that film, he would have a hard time telling the difference between himself and Jim's performance. Favorite "Wacky" Jim Carrey performance is and always will be Fire Marshall Bill from In Living Color. If I have to pick a movie, I suppose it would be Liar Liar, but his Fire Marshall Bill blows away anything (goofy wise) he has done since.

Yea, well you see this one? This was my dream, my wish....and it didn't come true. So I'm taking it back, I'm taking them all back. -Face
Was anyone else angered by The Grinch? I was pissed when I saw "The Jim Carrey Who Stole Christmas." He didn't even try to act like the Grinch, he just put on a green suit and acted like a 'tard for an hour and a half. He needs to have a little more respect for such a classic book. No wonder Dr. Seuss' wife is so upset.
On a side note, I agree with Ed Nyggie that Robin Williams is a pretty decent actor. Just watch Good Will Hunting and Dead Poets and tell me he is a bad actor.

Yeah! Not to mention the Fisher King, One HOur Photo and Insomnia!!
I think Jim was the only good thing in the Grinch movie, the film itself had no magic in it and looked quite fake, also, Jim wasn't helped by the uneven script he was offered!
But somehow, I think Dr Seuss' wife quite likes The Grinch, compared to the Cat in the Hat film!!!! I think that's why she's really angry!!!
I DO think Jim Carrey was exponentially more Grinch-like than Mike Myers was Cat-like in a Hat-like. And actually I really enjoyed the Grinch. It had problems, such as being waaaaay too long and, yes, Jim Carrey hammed it up quite a bit. It was a decent enough flick, but not as unbearable as Cat in the Hat.
I'd have to say Truman Show, even though I voted for Dumb and Dumber because I didn't take time to think about it. I always thought he was pretty good at acting, but I saw most of his movies when I was pretty young.
Like the Grinch. Actually, after seeing than one with my Grandma (I suppose I was 10 or so then) we both decided the Dog was the best part.
I reserve the right to be entirely wrong.

The Truman Show is definitely Jim's best ilm, Eternal Sunshine is a close second. Dumb and Dumber is maybe his funniest film. His worst ilm is, obviously, The Majestic.
As for the Grinch, Compman, you like THE DOG!!!! REALLY???
Definitely the Truman show and Eternal Sunshin. Even though he wasnt that comedic in those two movies, those were the best movies he has been in and I believe he acted the best, although not neccesarily funny in those two movies.

Yeah, he wasn't particularly funny in them, he proved everyone he could be an excellent actor in those 2 movies (and Man on the Moon). But he still had a few scenes to go crazy in both films, which was good...
I just need to say that when I saw Bruce Almighty, in theater (cause I'm obsessed), I laughed so hard! I cried and then needed to run to the restroom, lol!! I laughed at a bunch of parts..the movie is great, but laughed the hardest at the one part where...well, i might ruin it for some ppl..so, let me just say "I lika do the chacha"...
I also love watching the two Ace Ventura movies...I got my 7 yr old nephew hooked on them..we watch them together all the time...and quote with the movie..my nephew almost know as much of the movie as i do!! haha
I think its safe for me to say that i get my humor from Jim Carrey..I'm the comedian of the house...which is kinda sad, cause when i'm out with friends or a group of ppl, i'm quite...when I'm acting out or trying to be funny..i kinda act like him..but i'm usually just around my family. THey get a good laugh out of it...I love doing it at dinner..but, thats a whole other story!!
o-<-</ thats me, skateboarding!
