Has anyone noticed that 2006 has released some excellent country releases: Alan Jackson - Like Red on a Rose Keith Urban - Love, Pain, and the Whole Crazy Thing Montgomery Gentry - Some People Change Vince Gill - These Days Country seems to be completely dominating every other genre. Unfortunately, most critics and users of Metacritic will ALWAYS be rock-tinted and enjoy their rock/indie bands more than any country or hiphop. I feel all these releases have so far really been ignored, especially in top 2006 lists. Vince Gill's release is simply phenomenal - maybe the best of the year. And just because Keith Urban is pop - who cares? He's written some killer songs. It's not like Nickelback or anything. Anyway, what are your feelings?

I'm not even reading this thread before posting. Just based on the header I'd like to comment saying COUNTRY DOES NOT NEED A COMEBACK! All the detrimental effects of coutry music can be seen all around us every day because country music is more popular now than ever!
