I apologize in advance if there is a thread for this brilliant band. Two Hunters is easily one of the greatest metal records that I have heard in years and their debut is no slouch either. The first half of "Cleansing" is absolutely gorgeous and the second half sounds like hell rushing up from below.

Just so I have a frame of reference, what are some other favorite metal bands of yours? And not-so-favorites?

I enjoy listening to Neurosis, Boris, SunnO))), Pig Destroyer, Isis, Mastodon, Xasthur, and Slayer. My knowledge of metal is a bit limited but I am always open to recommendations. City of Caterpillar and Envy, although I know they are considered hardcore, are two of my favorite groups with a heavier sound. I have never taken a liking to Cannibal Corpse and the like but thats about it.

I abhor anything campy or cheesy as well.

Good. If you had said you were a fan of Dragonforce or Nightwish, I would've tuned out.

Getting back to WITR. I think they are good, but I've heard a lot of black metal, and they don't really stand out that much to me. Basically, I don't think they've improved on any aspect of what Burzum was doing in the 90's.
