Alcest perhaps

Metalgaze???!! Jesus, genres get stupider and stupider.

But tweedy, you could try Burial Hex , who are more atmospheric than anything, but surely would appeal to someone of your persuasion, and of course, me fellow Aussie, Striborg, who has been making spooky noises in the blackness for many years now.

I can't imagine he'd like Striborg, but one never knows. I'd recommend something along the lines of Verdunkeln, Gris (formerly Niflheim), and Nagelfar (not to be confused with Naglfar, who I would not rec). And lately my favorite bm band, Urfaust.

Why? Do you not like his stuff? I would say they are right up the proverbial alley.

Thanks for the link to Gris. hadn't heard them before.

I like Striborg. But I don't think it's what tweedy had in mind, is all. I guess he can chime in and let us know whether he likes any of these suggestions.

Hey, since your from Oz, what do you think about Trench Hell? In the vein of Hellhammer.

Trench Hell, hey? Well they sound pretty damn good. I've been out of the country for the last 3 years, so they've passed me by, but a quick listen on their myspace page tells me they have serious potential.

Thanx mate.

Metalgaze is a helpfull subgenre for me. As long as someone doesn't take it too seriously, there's no problem in using subgenres. Metalgaze, drone doom, post-hardcore, atmospheric black metal, etc... are all hints to help, not to conform...

I'll take the time to check at those bands. thanks.

I'd like to add two more suggestions, that I believe are deserving of the genre.

Aethyr ( http://aethyr.eu )
Krohm ( http://www.myspace.com/krohmvoid )
