Hello new member, why exactly did you decide to post this? Why are you plugging that website?

That's a pretty funny link, Ronnie.

We're always wary of spammers and shills here, but I trust your intentions were to share a funny music related link with a bunch of like-minded people and not to plug something. It's usually a bad sign when the first thing a new member posts is a link, but yours was entertaining.

Welcome!

That's a damned funny site. But no joke, Maiden kicks ass... I often get flak from people who don't "get" 80s metal, but that's one of the best bands of all time. No, they probably don't get a lot of pub from the Metacritic Music Editor, but what does he know??? "Number of the Beast", "Piece of Mind" and "Killers" are among the best in the metal canon.

Sorry for the double post, but I had to exerpt one paragraph from that page. And again, if you've never been into Maiden, or never lived in the 80s as a teenager, this is probably not funny at all:

For starters, the class text World History & You! is a complete joke. This so-called "educational" textbook completely ignores the crucial influence of Iron Maiden's mascot "Eddie" in the events that have shaped human history. From the dawn of man to a vaguely futuristic time, Eddie has been there- usually opting to not take a direct role but rather crouch nearby significant historical events with a ghoulish and/or menacing stare. The omission of Eddie from the text amounts to dangerous revisionist history on the part of the publishers...

I LOVE Eddie... That cracks me up...

Eddie killz!! The only other band mascot that can hold a candle to Eddie is Sargent D. from S.O.D. - "bigger than the Devil."

Yeah, Eddie was there at the Constitutional convention, and he was hanging out with the pharaohs, and flew sorties in WWII... you can't take anything away from him on that level.

I got into Maiden on a week-long school trip. A kid lent me their self-titled debut and I almost expected not to like it, but it ended up making my week loads better. I pretty much became obsessed with that album. I'm only familiar with the early stuff with Paul Di'Anno singing:Iron Maiden and Killers. I hope to learn a lot more about this band though.

I don't want to turn this into a gushing Iron Maiden thread...wait, yes i do. I love Maiden! my fav album is probably Piece of Mind, probably the best metal album of all time. It's just like, they're doing what they're best at, and they don't give a shit about what other people think of them. Just their fans.

Well, it probably ended for them after Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, which is delightfully evil. And Dance of Death kicks some serious ass, in any case, it makes me anticipate their next one. I know it sounds stupid to say that i can't wait for a middle-aged metal outfit to come out with their next album, but it's that entertaining and enjoyable, and they have a lot more energy than a number of other bands i can think of... But i do consider Piece of Mind to be far above the rest of them.
