What "den of thieves" thing?

Anyway,
Brian "Head" Welch ("that Korn guy") couldn't stay with the band because so many charactoristics of Korn go against christian convictions and doctrines. From the explicit lyrics to the basic message of their lyrics, Korn's music isn't something that a christian especially one that is new to the religion, should be associated with. There is too much temptation to return to your previous lifestyle and staying in Korn would definitely be a distraction from what really matters in life: not metal, but eternal life.
Plus, I don't think Welch rejected Korn. He just didn't want to be part of that lifestyle anymore. So they rejected him. That's when they came out with their "See You on the Other Side" album. I've heard it was partially directed toward him.

Peace.

Why is being a musician a bad thing in life Danny? Granted, Korn is a pretty horrible band as far as quality goes, I really don't think they push any envelope content wise.

Re: Religion, we have a pretty interesting discussion linked on the previous page of this thread, but beware, we've got some heavy hitters on both sides.

What are you talking about? I never said that. My point with the Korn discussion was just that Korn wouldn't be a good influence for a young christian.

Peace.

Really? Korn is a pretty tame band and frankly, if the most 'sinful' thing one does is play in a band which has barely questionable lyrics, he may be a more moral person than most.

I don't particularly like Korn, in fact I dislike them, but the concept that they are inherently 'evil' is rather ludacris. This band is popular because of their lowest common denominator factor, meaning that taking an fierce anti-religious stance would be a bad marketing strategy.

If we are on the subject of touring, I would say that there are plenty of married musicians who tour.

/end rant (I think make this my sig)

That entire post depresses me. I hope that the music one listens to has nothing to do with their religion. I'm not sure what kind of 'Temptation' we are speaking of here, let's use an example you'd be familiar with, let's say I listen to Disturbed's song "Down With the Sickness," (which I probably wouldn't do) I hope that I have the ability to listen to the "Die, Mommy, Die!" rant without killing my mom.

I'm familiar with the concept, I just don't appreciate it. It seems to ignore things like context and instead says because this music may be describing acts or concepts that I don't suscribe to, I'm somehow associated with murderers.

Your kinda blowing what I said out of preportion. When I meant temptation I was referring to Welch's temptation to return to his previous lifestyle. Don't think in anyway that I'm trying to downgrade any kind of music or say not to listen to a certain kind of music. You just got to look at different persectives.
(I'm listening to Disturbed right now Wink.)
Take it easy, bro.

You didn't say that in you're first post, but yeah I probably flew off the handle a little. I just hate people saying how 'bad' listening to a particularly type of music is for my 'soul.' Although I dislike Korn, if somebody suddenly decides that listening to Follow The Leader is not condusive to being a moral individual, it leads down to a slippery slope that eventually reaches me.
